Many people keep birds as pets and they keep birds in cages. I think that it is morally wrong to keep birds in cages because they deserve freedom. It is just like someone imprisoning you. So, do you think that it is wrong to keep birds in cages?

When I was younger, my grandfather had magpies; during the day, they were free to fly wherever they pleased (and often returned with clothespins etc. :D they are notorious thieves), in the evening, they slept in their cage.

Where I live, chicken pens are covered from the top also to prevent large birds ("klamper") to come and eat them. At night, the chickens are locked in the coop with door closed so no foxes can enter.

I don't see an issue with that. As long as you give your bird enough room to be a bird, a cage is also for their protection, their own space.

The "other side" of Magpies! :D
This 'picture' of magpies is so totally cool! Such a great way of 'getting to know' them.
Awesome!!
Strikingly beautiful birds, but I have mostly thought of them as 'evil' because of their tactics in creating carrion of newborn fawns & calves. Brilliant, but evil.......ah, nature!

I believe that birds should not be in cages. They deserve freedom. They should not be kept as pets. They are supposed to have their own lives and then should fly freely without getting caged.

I agree with Saphira There is a time and a reason for cages.

If we say no completely to keeping birds in cages or as pets, then we have to look deeper. Why do zoos exist? Should we keep any animals locked up? Should we even eat meat?
It is much more complex than just saying cages are bad.
