Do you use a security camera?

We thought of getting one, not for security lol but because we have elderly pets & when we are away those 2 days at my parents, thought of having one to be sure they are all ok. Problem is, can't find one that you don't need a cell phone to hook up with. If you have one, what do you use it for? Are they expensive?

I've thought about getting a security camera before, but they seem like kind of a nuisance to maintain.

We do have security camera for external use as well as to keep an eye on the pets while we're away for an extended amount of time. We do have it hooked up to our mobile phones for access.

I started with the excellent Reolink Argus 2's because of the exceptional night vision; have moved up to their 5MP dome camera for my rear driveway. I would recommend the Reolink PoE or Wi-Fi (I am using 5ghz Wi-Fi with no problems) system. In the front, for appearances sake, I am using the ring doorbell2 with a solar powered (solar array is in a flower pot near the front door) Argus2 higher up. In the back, a Reolink 422W (vandal resistant dome) under the garage door frame. I'm very pleased.

My dad installed some camera when we were living at his house and tbh I felt weird with camera all over the place so no, I won't install camera in my future home.

2 dogs, Kimo and Balthazar and a cat, Percy. When we go out of town we have friends that check on them for us but it's nice being able to check in and notify someone if something looks weird.

My Chihuahua warriors cannot be deceived if there are intruders who want to enter the house. Since I am renting an apartment, I have not seen one or two security cameras. In fact, they also have dogs that can secure our place.
