Does expensive water actually taste different?

I have bought expensive water before. It was cold, clean, but it still tasted like water. I do not see any difference between tap water, sachet water and bottle table. Why are some more expensive than the other despite the fact that all are clean and drinkable?

I can taste the difference between spring water, purified water, distilled water, etc, but really not a difference between brands. I rarely ever purchase fancy water, but I've never noticed much of a difference when I have. On the surface, it all appears to be the same, and it's just marketing.

I can usually only tell a difference when the chlorine content is higher than normal, and that seems to happen more often with the cheaper bottled waters than anything else. Outside of that, I honestly don’t taste much variation. Once you get past the occasional “this one tastes like it came straight from a pool” moment, most of them end up tasting pretty much the same to me.

Doesn't everyone love the taste of pool water? :P
