Does it bother you...

When some one posts a unwelcoming message in a introduction thread. It bothers me. Whenever someone does it, it makes me want to leave the forum.

It does bother me. Introductions should be friendly as they are pretty much a first impression a new member gets from a forum. If they get rude responses in their intro thread, then they will probably assume that the forum is full of rude people and probably wont bother to return.

Yeah it would bother me, certainly on a forum I'm staff on. I'd probably get rid of the message.



But I haven't really seen that anywhere unless the 2 already knew each other.

i always try and say hello to every new person joining, since they are not going to stick around if they are not made welcome, and a forum needs new ppl to survive, so if i see any rude remarks i think its just going make them leave which is sad



............however.....if that person turns out to be a spammer or rule breaker and is subsequently banned, then their hello thread is fair game

I had a member who used the introduction topics of others as an opportunity to disparage the forum. There really was no topic safe from his passive-aggressive scorn, annoyingly enough. He was eventually given enough rope to hang himself, to borrow from an English proverb.

It wouldn't bother me and make me want to leave if it were only one person doing it. It's rude but I don't think it's a reflection on the whole forum community. If several members did it then that would bother me and I would leave.
