Does money matter when looking for a partner? If he/she didn't have a job, would you go out with him/her?

Working shows that they have a work ethic. Personally I'm tired of supporting people who won't help themselves or contribute financially to the relationship. In the past, I've gotten with women who didn't have jobs. It always came down on me to support them financially. they would sit around the house and not help with anything. My ex wife for example worked a total of 9 months out of an 11 year span when I was with her. I paid for everything. I paid on her college loans, credit card debt, and a whole list of other things that she could have helped with. I was broke because of it. Then after my divorce I started seeing another woman, who wouldn't go get a job & wanted me to support her. But hated my kids and wanted me to give them up and have kids with her. So I terminated that relationship rather quickly and stayed single for 10 months before meeting my 2nd wife, who has a really good work ethic and wants to work and be independent.

Does money matter? Yes.... I mean no.... I mean maybe.... I don't have a problem with being the breadwinner, but you have to bring something to the table. We both need to be contributing something. If I were single, I don't know if I could date someone who has no income coming in. Potentially having to take care of her right out of the gate is too big of an ask.

Money doesn't matter to me in terms of wealth, but being reliant on one person alone to draw in a wage is ridiculous for a relationship. It's a partnership, even if the earnings aren't equal, so long as the effort is, that's what matters

If I weren't married and was looking, yes, having a job would be critical because I need his health insurance ;) Seriously. I do. I'm frugal though, and low maintenance when it comes to clothes, hair, makeup, nails, etc...so I don't need a super rich guy, but would prefer him to make over $100,000.

Ideally, it is better to have a partner who has his or her job. But it does not mean that we need to consider this. If you love someone so dearly, it does not matter if this individual is unemployed.

Well, this is not to say I need a very wealthy man but I would need a man that can cater for the home financially. I don't need a jobless partner

For me, he does not need to be rich, but should have some work to do. He can be an employee, a freelancer or a small business owner. The point is he should have the ability to support himself financially.
