Dog or a cat person?

I'm both, I have 1 dog and 3 cats currently.

Had four dogs in one go at one stage, but I lost 2 of them, 8 months apart for each other - that did if for me.

Hubby and I said we'd never have another dog when our current ones gone, cats are much easier and my husbands mobility isn't good these days, so cats will be ideal for us in the future.

Do your dog and cats get along with each other?

Yes - they all live in perfect harmony with each other :D

I've always been a dog person but I've always grown up having a dog in my life. If you have a big dog, they can be a deterrent against people breaking into your house or someone trying to hurt you. I don't know if a small dog can protect you against burglars but they can bark and at least tell you when someone is there that isn't suppose to be there.

Depends on the dog I suppose. Some big dogs just want to lick and be friendly to all humans, including those breaking into your house. Lol

I love both but prefer cats because they are less trouble to care for. I can't walk a dog as I have agoraphobia. My most recent cat, Mister Ellis, left me last August at the age of 16.

Thank you, Nebulous.

No. At my age, it might outlive me!

Cheeky, Nebulous!

Get one, you won't regret it.

Depends on your budget. British and American Shorthairs are nice, very friendly. Bengals are also friendly. Maine Coons are nice but shed a lot of hair.

Definitely don’t want one that sheds! I hate being covered in hair all the time.
