Human consumption of dog meat has been recorded in many parts of the world including China, Mexico, and ancient Rome. Dog meat is presently consumed in a variety of countries such as China, Vietnam, The Philippines, and Korea. In addition, dog meat has also been used as survival food in times of war and/or other hardships.

Do you think its wrong to eat dog meat? Would you try it?

If I was in those countries, yes. It's really just a matter of the area you live in. People who follow the goddess Guanyin don't eat cow, because the cow is a sacred animal.

Really, the reason people in the western shores are freaked out by the thought of eating dog, is because the dog is a domestic pet in a way a cow or pig could never be. At the end of the day, they're both meat. We just put different levels of personification upon them.

All I can say is that I would never be able to eat it if I knew what it was.

I might consider trying a little bit. I mean, they're not an endangered animal so why should they not be used as food?

They're too far up to food chain to eat imo and my cousin tried it when she was in China, apparently it doesn't taste that good.

Depends on the dog. If it's like Russia where most dogs are wild and not like US dogs, maybe. It's just like eating any other kind of hunted animal.

I dont think I would try it. Dogs are mans best friend, not mans best meal.

The relationship between pet dogs and farmed dogs are different. You don't eat pets.

In your head.[/quote]Think of chicken farms. Sure, the owner could have a couple of his own chickens as pets and I'm sure he loves them. Now how can he have the same relationship with the 5000 chickens on his farm? Same card is played for dogs.

It's disgusting. To think that people think it's a good idea even to try it is disturbing. Dogs are highly intelligent animals, and to think of farming them is just sick.

The people in this world always surprise me, and not in good ways either. Ah, the human race, what a mess we have become.

Strangely enough, your statement does not change my opinion at all.
