You don't have to pay anyone, that's our job.

As long at it isn't a complete rerun.
That would be rather dull.

Question: How many clicks, or views, or cookies dropped on other people's hard drives- does it take to hatch the thing?
There is no set amount. Hatching is based on a ratio of clicks, views, unique views, and time, so there is no magic number that you must reach. The higher the amount of views a dragon has, the less unique views and clicks it will need to hatch. The more unique views and clicks it has, the less views it will require. Clicks are like an extra little boost in growing up faster.

One thing I find interesting about the critters, the legendary reptiles, not the ones on the board, is how universal the idea of some sort of dragon is.

The only difference is that in the East of the Old World, they were seen as good, or at worst, a force of nature best left alone, while in the West, they were seen as Evil to the point where in the Judeo/Christian tradition the Devil is depicted as a Dragon.

In the New World, they are almost exclusively seen in a more Oriental way and assocaited with Creation and so forth, and in fact, several of the Old Ones in the Americas depicted their dragons in an almost Chinese way.

OK. It hatched.

So who's going to get up at 0200 and feed the thing?

Do I have to leave the classical music station on low to keep it from crying all night?

Since it's your dragon, you can

I wouldn't exactly call Eastern and Western dragons the same. Don't we just call those Eastern dragons dragons because it's the closest thing?

They have feathers after all... Which, come to think of it, is rather interesting given that about feathered dinosaurs. Also, while we're on the topic of feathered dragons, the feathered serpent, Quetzalcoatl, is suspiciously similar to Eastern dragons.

Err, I got slightly derailed there. Isn't some sort of big, clawed monster the logical conclusion of mythology? My myth can beat up yours!

That was exactly what I meant by New World and Oriental.
Actually, wasn't there a theory that suggested the Chinese had visited the Americas before Columbus?
