I haven't got very far -- just started on chapter four recently. I am sorry if it's not as good as you're hoping, but I'm pleased with how its turning out. My story is my own work, I don't own any of the sites mentioned.

This is a fan-fiction I have been working on for a little while now.

Yes, its a John Barrowman story, in case you hadn't realised.

'Sarah, you're down for Saturday morning, 6am - 8am and 12 - 4pm. I'll give you next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon off, if you work Kirsty's Thursday morning 9am - 1pm shift.' Mark replied looking up at the rota. 'Sure, I can do that.' She smiled looking at the date on the calender. Sarah had managed to get Friday, Saturday and Sunday that week off work. She was due to attend a DVD signing in Cardiff on Friday afternoon with her idol and favourite TV personality, John Barrowman. She wanted to get there early so she could get a good spot in the Queue.

Strolling on the shop floor, checking for empty shelves, Sarah was called to the Customer Service desk by Kirsty. 'Hey Sarah. Are you looking forward to the signing on Friday?' Kirsty asked, tidying the desk of the clutter from the person there before her. 'You know, you'd think whoever was here last would tidy up after themselves. I think it was Sam, he's always leaving a trail of mess wherever he goes.' Kirsty frowned putting the paper in the bin under the desk.

'I'm excited and nervous at the same time.. But, I'm sure it'll be OK. I guess I'll only know when I get there. I just hope he's as nice in real life as he is on the TV, he seems like he may be.' Sarah smiled. She'd never met him before, but was really looking forward to it. Her first ever book signing and it was meeting her favourite TV personality. She had in mind what she was going to wear to the signing so that he'd notice her. A few weeks previous, she'd bought a hoodie off eBay that had 'Mrs John Barrowman' written on it. She was hoping that would get a reaction from him.

'How's your friend Alan, have you heard from him recently?' Kirsty asked wiping the work top with a spray bottle and a dust cloth. 'No, I think he's busy with his kennel work, will probably have a text or something from him over the weekend.' Sarah replied. 'Right, I better get back to work, only got an hour left of my shift. If I don't see you before I clock off, I'll see you in the morning.' She continued walking off up the fresh fruit and vegetables aisle and disappearing into the stock room at the back of the store.

Standing in the store room, looking around for the next job to do, the visions of what might happen on Friday were dancing around in her head. 'What if I make a fool of myself?' She thought to herself. 'Thinking about Friday?' Came a voice from the store room door. 'Oh my god, Karl, don't do that, you scared the hell out of me!' Sarah jumped. 'Oh sorry, I do apologise. Didn't mean to scare you.' Karl smiled pulling out the food trolley which was filled with fresh produce.

****

Packing up the car Thursday afternoon, Sarah was getting ready to leave for Cardiff for the signing Friday afternoon. Travel lodge close to the location was booked, she was going to spend the night there. She was getting nervous about meeting him, chatting with him and generally being near him. She'd never met him before, so she was understandably nervous.

In the car, she'd packed her over night bag and her laptop. She was going to make sure she'd packed her new hoodie for the signing. She was determined to get a reaction from him about the hoodie, she wanted to try and make him laugh if she could. She sat in the car for a few moments and turned on the engine, set the sat nav to the travel lodge, ready for the off. Put on a CD in the CD Player and took off down the high street towards the motorway.

Pulling onto the motorway, the road was quiet, the only cars on the motorway was the odd lorry driver, roadside recovery and white van driver. Playing through the speakers of the CD Player in the car was 'Side Of A Bullet by Nickelback'. Turning up the volume a little more, Sarah sat grinning at the prospect of finally being able to attend a celebrity event. She'd waited for months to be able to attend an event like this, she was really excited.

Two hours later, she arrived at the travel lodge and checked herself in to her room she'd booked. The weather outside was cold, but the sun was shining. It was time to get something to eat and have a drink. Throwing her bag down on the bed, Sarah's phone bleeped, it was Kirsty;

'Hey babe, hope I've not caught you driving. If I have text me when you stop. Anyway.. Just making sure you're OK, flat is quiet here without you, Adams on a late tonight, so I'm in the flat on my own, bored out of my brain. Speak to you later. Kirsty'

Sarah decided to leave it awhile before she texted her back, she was hungry and wanted something to eat. After getting her food, she sat down at an empty table and began to tuck into her meal. She finally decided to text Kirsty back;

'Hey! Sorry I've taken awhile to reply to you, was hungry so I wanted to get something to eat. Sorry you're home alone tonight, didn't know Adam was working late this evening. Why not order a take away and watch a movie or something, have a relaxing evening. You've been working hard all week, have a quiet night and relax. Sarah'

Making her way back across the car park to the hotel where she was staying, she saw a black BMW sports saloon park up outside. Standing and watching the car for a few moments, a tall, dark haired, well built man stepped out of the passenger seat and closed the door behind him. Watching him walk into the building, she couldn't put a name to the face, it was really annoying her.. Then she realised.. A feeling of being star stuck hit her, like a slap in the face.. Running across the car park towards the hotel, she felt a sense of pleasure wash over her. She'd seen him!

Standing in the entrance to the hotel, Sarah stopped and pressed the button for the lift, her room was on the 2nd floor. Standing in the lift as it ascended upwards, she texted Alan, who she was hoping would be home from work:

'Hey honey, just making sure you're OK. Haven't heard from you in a few days, you haven't fallen out with me, have you? Just had the most star stuck thing happen to me!!'

Alan replied:

'Hey! No, I haven't fallen out with you, why would I? Why, what happened?

Sarah replied:

'I was coming across the car park from where I was having a bite to eat and a car pulled up.. At first I couldn't work out who it was, I recognised the face, but it wasn't registering.. Then, I realised... I'd just caught a glimpse of John before he went inside. I couldn't believe it!!'

That night, whilst lying in bed using her laptop, the street outside was dark and and quiet. The only sound she could hear were cars on the motorway, not to far from the hotel. She felt cold and alone. It was a year now since she'd split from her boyfriend and was still coming to terms with how things ended. How could someone be as nasty as that?! Why treat someone, you preport to love so nicely and then suddenly turn on them? He was a nasty, vile, hurtful man, who caused her nothing but misery and grief. She knew she was better off without him.

Andy Sailcombe was a vile, disgusting, cold hearted man. Sarah was with this guy for 2 and a half years and he did nothing but upset her, disrespect her and was down right nasty to her. And all she ever did was love him. Andy was hated by everyone she knew, they told her he was no good for her, a scum bag. She didn't listen. Now she knows why they said what they did.. To protect her and she didn't listen. But she knew that now and she wasn't ever going to let him back into her life, ever again.

She finally had her life back on track and was a lot more happy about life. Work was finally good again and she had her family and friends for support. She knew one day, she'll find the man of her dreams and be happy again. That's all she ever wanted, was to be loved for who she was and respecting her for what she believed in. One day, her dream to be happy, will come true..

To Be Continued..

-- TWO --

Waking up the next morning, she hadn't realised how late it was, looking at the time, it was now 9:12am. She didn't remember going to sleep, but she must of done, the last thing she remembered was looking at the bedside clock and the time being 9:37pm - that must of been when she dozed off..

Sitting up in bed, glancing out of the window, the sun was shining. Putting on her glasses and brushing hair back from her face, she heard the sound of birds singing outside the hotel room. Taking her clothes from the chair and placing them on the foot of the bed, Sarah's phone vibrated violently on the bedside table. Alan it read..

'Hiya hun, hope you're OK. Sorry if I woke you, didn't mean to.'

'Hi. Its OK, I was awake anyway -- still getting dressed though, ha ha. How are you?' Sarah replied.

'I'm not to bad thank you, just about to take Henry out for a walk in the woods, how are you?' He replied.

'I'm OK. Just going to have some breakfast soon, then head to the supermarket to queue up for the signing.' She replied and placed the phone back on the table.

'Ah cool! Hope you have a great day! I've got work at 11am. So if I don't text you again today, have a good day and I'll text you this evening when I finish work.' He replied.

Walking down the corridor towards the canteen of the travel lodge for breakfast. There were shouting kids outside, screaming, laughing and running around, they seemed excited about something.. Turning towards the reception desk on her right, a young kid, about 4 years old, ran into her and stumbled sideways. Looking down, the kid looked up. 'Sowwy' The little girl smiled. 'Melissa, come here, stop getting under peoples feet!' Shouted her mother as she walked towards her. 'Sorry about that love.' She apologised picking her child up from the floor so she couldn't cause any more mischief.

***

Stepping out of the shower, water dripping from his forehead, John wrapped the towel around his waist and opened the bathroom window slightly, hoping to remove the condensation from the mirror. After getting dressed and putting his clean shirt on, John made his way into the bedroom.

'Busy day for me.' He thought to himself, putting his mobile charger in his laptop bag. Turning around, John switched off the radio on the TV, put his mobile phone in his pocket and headed towards the door. Putting the 'Do not disturb' sign on the inside of the door, John picked up his laptop bag, holdall and jacket and headed to the car park where his driver was awaiting his arrival.

The sky was clear, the sun was shining, it was a great day for a DVD signing. Sitting on the back seat of the car, on his phone, John was updating his fans of his daily plans on Twitter:

'On way to DVD signing in Cardiff now. Busy day ahead! Hope to see a lot of you there. One more signing this week in Glasgow, hope some of you can make it! Love and hugs. JB'

***

Standing the car park, Sarah received a SMS text from Facebook. 'Alan posted a message on your wall.' Opening her profile on Facebook, she reads the message from Alan:

'Say hi to John for me and I hope you have a good time talking to him and stuff, but I'm sure you will. Speak to you later. Alan.'

Putting her mobile back in her pocket, she made her way indoors to wait in the queue in the supermarket. The store was booming with business, lots of mums were out doing there weekly shop with there children and there friends. Standing by the till point in the store, with her DVD in hand, Sarah was served by a young brunette woman. 'You here for the signing today?' She asked. 'Yeah, should be nice meeting him' Sarah replied. 'I wish I could of seen him, but unfortunately I have to work. But have a good one.' The lady replied giving Sarah her change and her item. 'Thanks.' Sarah replied.

Joining the queue near the front, Sarah took a seat on the floor with her bag by her side and her drink infront of her. Turning the DVD cover over, Sarah read the information on the back:

'2010 sees John return to the stage with yet another sensational UK Tour. Joining him on the tour is 'I'd Do Anything' winner, Jodie Prenger. We're sure, 'Torchwood' is bound to get a mention!

Yet again he is joined by his fabulously talented and outrageously funny, parents, John and Marion and of course, the return of those famous Barrowman stories!

Please join me on an adventure through my life as we take a look back at my past and future career. You're in the best seats in the house, so grab your drink, lots of popcorn as we go on a journey of sadness and happiness.

You're on the front row, so don't forget to give me and wave! Thank you for purchasing this DVD, I hope you will enjoy it!!

John x'

'Excuse me love.' Came a voice. Looking up from her DVD, Sarah smiled. 'Can I help you?' Sarah replied. 'I was wondering if you could tell me where you bought that DVD? Only, I can't see any of them on the shelves.' The lady replied. She was wearing a red jumper, baggy jeans and a pair of white trainers. 'Yeah, you can get them from the till point there' Sarah replied pointing to the cashier on the till. 'They only put so many copies out on the shop floor.' Sarah continued. Thank you.' The lady smiled. 'That's OK.' Sarah smiled.

***

Arriving at the back of the store, so not to be seen by waiting crowds of fans, John walked slowly towards the fire exit and was escorted into the building by two tall, well built security guards. Walking down the corridor, John switched off his mobile and handed it to Gavin, his Manager who then placed the phone in his pocket.

Standing by the staff room door, tucking his shirt into his jeans, John glanced at his watch and looked up at the clock on the wall, it was three minutes fast. John's watch said 12:57pm and the clock on the wall said 1:00pm. 'Sorry to interrupt, but the clock on your wall is three minutes fast -- either that, or my watch is three minutes slow.' John laughed. Gavin smiled, he knew that was coming..

Standing by the door, preparing to step onto the shop floor, Gavin tapped John on the shoulder. 'Quick sign, photo and on to the next one, we have to be out of here by 2:30pm' John nodded in agreement. 'OK, sign, photo, next one -- got ya!' John smiled. Breathing in deeply, the door opened and John walked across the shop floor, shaking hands with people as he walked past.

A lady with her trolley looked star struck as he shook her hand and continued walking. A lady with a push chair seemed so excited, she almost fainted. A child with his mother shouted out in excited. 'Captain Jack! Mum look, its Captain Jaaack!' John smiled and saluted the little boy, who's face dropped in shock. 'Mum, he saluted me!' The little lad exclaimed. John laughed to himself at the thought of a child thinking he was actually Captain Jack.

It made him smile to know he made a little lad happy. It makes the job he does all worth while. Turning to face a young woman who was smiling up at him, John winked and smiled at her. She turned away from him and blushed. Her daughter who was with her was giggling as her mother stood blushing with her head in her hands. 'Mum, stop acting like a 13 year old school kid! You're worse than me!' John laughed as he heard her mother ask if he'd gone passed yet.

***

Climbing to her feet, as she saw him walk towards her, Sarah smiled at him and he smiled back. Being only third in the queue, she knew she'd have a good chance of talking to him, even if it was only briefly. Dusting herself off and and picking up her bag, Sarah prepared herself - this was it - the one thing she'd dreamt about for months was finally coming true, she was about to meet him..

Taking a step closer, towards the table where he sat, she felt a sense of pride wash over her. The thought of finally meeting him, face to face was beginning to sink in.. Her time was nearly here, she was metres away from him... This was is.. It was here. She smiled casually and handed her DVD to him and he smiled up at her softly.

She felt sick, but it wasn't ill sick it was an excitement sick. Her stomach was doing somersaults and felt like it was in knots, but she was happy. She stood waiting patiently for him to sign the DVD. 'I like your hoodie' He smiled, 'Made me chuckle when I saw it' He continued. 'Thanks. How are you?' She asked him, keeping herself calm. 'I am good thank you, yourself?' He replied. 'I'm OK thank you for asking' She smiled.

Standing by the empty tables, watching him signing other peoples DVD's, she waited till the end to see if she could catch him again. She enjoyed talking to him, even if it was only for a short while. She felt proud, knowing she'd met him. He really was a nice guy like she'd hoped, he made her feel at ease and comfortable. She wanted to tell him she was following him on Twitter and see what he'd say. Deep down she knew he probably wouldn't follow her back, but she wanted to mention it and let him know away.

***

The time was reaching 2:30pm and Sarah watched him rise to his feet and tuck the chair under the table. He strode over to the people who were sitting waiting and watching him, he shook a few people's hands and left the shop floor and headed towards the staff room. Walking away from the crowd of people, John again saw Sarah waiting by the doors. Walking over to her, he smiled softly and winked. 'You still here, thought you'd of gone by now.' John smiled. 'I was just going, wanted to give you this' Sarah replied, giving him a piece of paper. 'That's my user name on Twitter, I follow your page and I'd really appreciate it if you'd follow me back.' She smiled. 'Thank you, I'll see what I can do. Maybe I'll see you at a signing again one day.. Have a nice afternoon' John replied with a smile, leaving the shop floor.

***

Walking out into the car park and back to the car, John glanced down at the piece of paper the young girl had given him. 'LFC_JFT96_YNWA aka Sarah ( girl with the 'Mrs JB' hoodie )' it read. Smiling to himself, John thought she was a lovely girl. She seemed really nice, good company and probably a good laugh. Looking up briefly, to get into the car, a smile washed over his face. Taking his phone out if his pocket, John signed into Twitter. 'Just had a lovely day meeting some fans at the signing, where any of you there? JB' Looking through his 'Followers' the girl he'd met today wasn't on his list, looking through Twitter, he found her. Smiling softly, he clicked 'Follow' and looked over her profile. 'Hi there. My name is LFC_JFT96_YNWA, nice to meet you!!' John laughed to himself, looking at her picture.

Looking at her profile a little longer, Gavin shouted him, he was in a world of his own, he was thinking about today.. 'Sorry, I was miles away, what'd you say?' John replied. 'I noticed. Anyway, I said did you meet anyone interesting?' Gavin asked. 'No, just the usual over excited mother, lovely elderly ladies and the odd young kid. Nothing more than usual.' John replied. He knew deep down, today was different, he felt slightly different, but didn't exactly know why, but it felt nice. 'You've been elsewhere since you left the supermarket, are you sure you're OK?' Gavin asked. He wanted to know why John wasn't completely there.

'I'm fine Gav, every thing's fine. I guess I'm feeling a little tired, think I'm going to call it a day and head home from here, if you don't mind?' John replied. He wasn't feeling tired at all, he wanted to find out more about this mysterious 'LFC_JFT96_YNWA' and talk to her, if she was available. 'Sure, I'll get Sean to drive you home. You'll feel better after rest, sleep and a good meal inside you.' Gavin smiled. 'Thanks Gav. I guess, I'm just feeling a little tired and run down, I'm sure I'll feel better in the morning.' John replied looking out of the window. He had visions running through his mind. What she'd be like to talk to, how she'd react to a reply from him what sort of a person she was. She looked and sounded like a lovely girl, a good laugh and possibly nice company.

***

Arriving back to her travel lodge, Sarah placed her phone on charge. She switched on her laptop and set it down on the bed and made herself a warm cup of tea. The laptop booted up and and bleeped at her 'Low Battery'. Walking over to her laptop bag, she took out the charger cable and plugged it in, placing the pin in the DC socket 'Plugged in, charging' it read. Setting her freshly made cup of tea on the bedside cabinet, she clicked on the 'Mozilla FireFox' icon and waited patiently for it to load. She had 'Twitter' set as her home page. 'Follower Request' message popped up. It was Team_Barrowman.. He was following her back!!

***

Arriving home, he jogged to the kitchen with his laptop bag, took out the charger and laptop and set them down on the kitchen table, switched the laptop on and made himself a cup of coffee and a sandwich. He wanted to know if she was on line and available to talk for a while. Placing the sandwich on the table, the laptop sat quietly humming away waiting for him to enter his security log in password for his user account. 'Captain Jack Harkness' he punched in the password field. 'Welcome back, John' it replied, loading up his desktop icons.

Clicking on the icon 'Twitter' it quickly loaded. He checked her account for any recent tweets, she'd posted 3 minutes ago. 'Just got back from the DVD signing. He laughed at my hoodie and asked me how I was. Really happy! Just made myself a nice cup of tea. Just in time for Ice Road Truckers, woo!' It read. Looking at the message again, he smiled. 'Just arrived home, going to have a nice relaxing afternoon/evening I think. JB' He tweeted.

John sat staring at the screen and finally plucked up the courage to message her. Clicking 'Direct Message' he began to write compose a message:

Hi there, LFC_JFT96_YNWA,

Before you go thinking 'This is John's web team sending me a daft promotion message..' it's not, this is actually John.

Before you ask 'How do I know its not some fake person or the web team making me think it's John.' I remember you, you wore the 'Mrs John Barrowman' hoodie I commented on.

I just wanted to begin by saying thank you for purchasing my DVD and taking the time to attend the signing, I really do appreciate your support.

You asked me, very kindly, if I'd follow you back this afternoon. I know deep down you probably didn't think I would? Well, I guess I proved you wrong (I'm full of surprises!). I hope I haven't caught you at a busy or inappropriate time, but I thought it was only fair I sent you a message.

Please do not hesitate to reply back, I'll be waiting patiently for your response. Hope to speak to you soon. Have a good evening.

***

Writing another tweet, a small grey box popped up 'You've recieved a Direct Message from, Team_Barrowman' it read. Sitting really quiet for a few moments, she was sure she was dreaming. Finally plucking up the courage, she opened the message and began to read it.

Hi there, LFC_JFT96_YNWA,

It read..

'Oh my god!' She thought to herself, it was really him, he'd followed her back and sent her a message, she definitely thought she was dreaming.. She quckly responded with...

Hi there, John,

You're welcome, it was a pleasure to buy your DVD and I really enjoyed meeting you - finally. You're fantastic man, a great role model. Your charm, charisma and enthusiasm is outstanding.

I really admire your work and time you put into things you do. Your charity work is great and The Dogs Trust must be so greatfull to have you support them.

My friend works at a rescue kennels and they have a charity called Dogs 4 Adoption. He does a lot of work for the charity, advertising them and things. You should check them out at: www.stgileskennels.co.uk, I think you'd be really surprised at how much work they put into the charity as well as the boarding.

You haven't caught me at a busy or inappropriate moment, I'm just relaxing and on Twitter and drinking tea - nothing that exciting.

I look forward to hearing from you again.

Speak soon

-- THREE --

They'd now been in correspondence with each other for about three to four weeks. They'd become good friends and had a laugh together chatting and swapping stories. Talking about dogs, TV and Torchwood. John had been sharing with her so many interesting stories and gossip about his busy work schedules, life in his shoes, his family and of course his charity work. She loved talking to him, they felt like they'd known each other for ages. But today was slightly different to normal.

Logging into Twitter, John had left Sarah a message - as he did every day, like normal - but today it was different..

Good morning, Sarah.

Hope you have a great day - as I'm sure you will! Today I bring you this message, different to others I've wrote you.

I am to be leaving the country for about a month with work in three days time and I am unable to access Twitter whilst I am out of the country. So I am having to leave my laptop here at home in the UK.

But, please don't be sad, I will be back. If you feel you'd like to chat to me while I am away from Twitter you're welcome to text me if you like, I will reply on: 07787456532 or email me personally (I have email enabled on my phone) at [email protected].

Speak to you soon.

JB x

He'd wrote.

She couldn't believe he'd given her his email address and mobile number! She was so excited, surprised and shy. But she saved the email address and number anyway. She hadn't told her any of her friends or work collegues that she was in correspondence with him. Nobody knew about her and him talking, exchanging numbers, pictures and email address. Her friendship with him was a secret, he and she had nothing to hide, but she was beginning to think things were evolving into something more than friendship, but she wasn't sure..

She sent a text to the number he'd given her..

Hi John, I got your message on Twitter, so I thought I'd send you a text to say its me (LFC_JFT96_YNWA) and that this is my number. Speak soon x

It wasn't long after she'd sent the message he texted back..

Hi Sarah! Glad you got my message on Twitter and thank you for texting me. I was worried you would think it was a fake number and not text me! The message I sent you wasn't the reason I sent you my email and mobile number.. Yes I'll be away from Twitter for a month, due to work commitments. But, you see, there's something I need to tell you and I hope you wont hate me for what I'm about to say.. I am up north for two weeks and I'd like to meet up with you - if that's OK. I can't explain myself by text, I'd prefer to meet up with you and explain. Please? Hope I haven't scared you off.. Text back. JB x

She sat for a few moments wondering that to say, they she replied..

No, you haven't scared me off. I just don't see why you have to meet up with me to tell me? I'll meet up with you, yes of course I will. But, why can you not tell me now? x

John replied..

Oh good, glad I haven't scared you off. I'd like to meet you - if you're free? Tell you what, I'll ring you and tell you, will that be better? I'm a bit nervous about what I want to tell you. JB x

Just as she read the reply, her phone rang 'JB Calling' it read..

'Hello?' She replied. 'Hi, it's John, you alright?' He asked 'Yeah, I'm OK. What is it you wanted tell me?' She replied sitting down on her bed. 'Are you free to see me, tonight?' John asked. 'Tonight?' She replied, checking her calendar and diary. Yeah I can meet you tonight. Where? And why?' She replied. 'Ah good. Meet me at Starbucks, 7pm. And remember..' He tralied off.. 'Remember what?' She asked. '... you..' Crackling on the phone and the called ended. She didn't quite catch what he'd said but she was sure he said 'love you'...

***

Sitting in his car in a car park, John sat staring out of the window looking out at the motorway.. He knew he had to do this, face his demons and tell her.. Tell her how he truly felt. He knew now why he felt the way he did, he'd fallen in love with her - hook, line and sinker and there was no going back, it felt right. In the passenger seat of the car was a small silver bag, in the bag was a small box in the box was a necklace. The necklace had 'Fallen For You' engraved on it. He'd bought it from a jewellery store for her, so he was hoping and praying she wouldn't knock him back and hopefully she felt the same way.

Looking down at his watch, it was 3:05pm.. He was already half way up to her. Gavin and his driver, Sean weren't due to join him for another 3 days, so he wanted to make sure he did this soon, before it was too late and the moment had gone. Turning on his engine, he drove out of the car park and headed towards his hotel where he'd be staying for the two weeks he was up there. A sense of love and pride washed over his face, he couldn't wait to see her.

***

It was now approaching 6:30pm. Sarah stood in her bedroom in the flat, looking in her mirror hanging on the wall and smiling. She was starting to fall in love with John, and was hoping he felt the same way. She didn't want to dress herself up to much in case she gave off the wrong signal. So, she decided to wear her denim jeans with a black studded belt, Tiger top, leather boots and her leather jacket.

She picked up her mobile phone and decided to leave now, hopefully to get there before he arrived. She didn't want to be late, in case he wasn't going to be there long. She collected her keys and decided to walk to the coffee shop, it was only a 5 minute walk from where she lived so it wouldn't take her long if she was out late coming home. She closed the door behind her, Kirsty and Adam were both at work so the house was left quiet and in the dark. Walking down the path towards the gate, she received a text from John..

I'm just leaving now, will be there in around 10 minutes. See you soon. JB x

She walked down the street and turned right out of the cul-de-sac and on towards the coffee shop where she'd be meeting John.

***

Sitting in the coffee shop, waiting patiently for John's arrival with a large, creamy cafe latte, Sarah was beginning to think he wasn't going to show. Then the door opened and in he walked. Wearing a black jacket, pants, shoes and a blue shirt. He looked so hot, she almost forgot what she'd come here for. Finally snapping out of her day dream, she smiled up at John as he took a seat on the chair opposite her.

'You look nice' He smiled. 'Thanks. You don't look so bad yourself' Sarah smiled. 'Thanks. I'm sorry I brought you here at such short notice. But I needed to get it out in the open sooner, rather than later. If I don't do it tonight, I'll probably miss my chance.' He explained. 'What are you going on about, I'm confused.' Sarah replied sipping her latte.

'I don't know how to say this..' He began, twitching in his seat. '..We've been in contact with each other for about a month now and it's been great fun, talking to you. But something's happened and I'm not sure how to say it..' He replied fiddling with a napkin. 'Go on..' She replied waiting for the rest. 'I.. I think.. I think I've.. In fact I know I've.. Sort of.. Fallen in love with you..' He paused. 'I'll understand if you don't-' He replied as she interrupted him.

'I know how you feel' She smiled. 'You do?' He replied. 'Yes, I like you too.. I've liked you for a while, but I was afraid to say anything, so I kept my mouth shut. But now that I know how you feel, I don't feel stupid anymore.' She replied looking down at the table. 'Don't feel like that. I'm glad I've said it and I'm relieved you feel the same way about me. I wasn't sure what sort of response I'd get from you' John smiled. 'So, what happens now?' Sarah asked. 'Well I guess I better get myself a drink and make myself comfortable, I've got nothing on now for another three days, so I'm in no rush to leave' John replied walking towards the counter to order a drink.

Sarah sat thinking about what had just happened, she thought she was going to wake up at any moment and it all to be a dream.. But no.. She was sitting there, in the coffee shop, pondering over the fact she'd just been told someone was in love with her. But not an average someone.. Him!! She sat watching him standing there at the counter, she just wanted to go over to him and wrap her arms around him and tell him how much she loved him and how happy she was.

***

John stood at the counter, waiting for his order and glanced over his shoulder. She was looking down at her phone, like she was checking the time or something. He turned back and took the drink off the counter. 'Thanks' He smiled taking his change and walking back to the table where she was sitting. He couldn't believe his luck.. She liked him too!! He was really happy it all worked out for the best. All that was left to do now, was to give her the gift he'd bought her.. But how..

Setting his drink down on the table, John took a seat on the chair next to her and looked at Sarah softly. 'Is everything OK?' He asked not sure of what else to say 'I'm fine, just in a bit of shock really, but I'll be OK' Sarah smiled. 'If what I've said has upset you, I really do apologise, but I'm not taking it back, I ment what I said.' John smiled. 'I ment what I said too. I'm not going going to take it back.' She smiled. 'If it's not me, then may I ask.. What's the matter?' He asked starting to feel concerned. 'Its nothing, really, I'm fine.' She smiled. 'Why do I get the feeling then that you're not fine?' John replied. 'I guess its still sinking in.. You know, what you said. I'm not used to having someone love me before.. I'm used to..' And she began to sob. Tears filled her eyes as she held back the tears.

She'd never had anyone feel like this about her before. She was used to being walked all over, treated like dirt and being told she was worthless, this was new to her. She really didn't want to tell him, but she knew if she didn't, she may lose him forever and she wasn't willing to risk that. He made her feel like she was a somebody, not a something, it made her feel happy. She felt his emotion, she saw the concerned look in his eyes, she'd never seen that in somebody before.. 'Its OK to cry, I wont think of you any different. Its natural to cry, please don't feel you need to hide it from me. I said it once and I'll say it a thousand times. I love you.' John smiled. 'Come here.' He continued holding out his arms.

She buried her head in his neck and sat there for a moment. It felt nice, warm and secure. Something she'd never felt before. She knew now that he loved her and she loved him. At last, she'd found it - Her dream - But it was better than a dream. She dreamt at night she'd find someone who loved her for who she was - but she never thought she'd find love in the arms of him! It was nice and she was never going to let him go, it felt right, like a dream.. A dream come true. At last she was happy..

***

It was now a week since she'd met up with him and they were still in contact via text message and email. John was away on business and so wasn't able to see her as often, but she didn't care. Even if it was only a short while, at least she'd see him. The time they did spend together was great, it made them become more fond of each other and it gave them something to look forward to when they did meet up. They'd arranged to meet up in the coffee shop every Friday morning for an hour before they both headed off to work, it was nice. It gave them both a sense of happiness for the rest of the day, knowing they'd have each other to come back too.

Sitting on the end of the bed, waiting for her weekly meet up text she was happy and excited, she loved thier weekly meet up, it was nice, they had a laugh and they were so comfortable in each others company. It was like they'd been together for ages. She waited for 20 minutes for the text - he'd usually sent it by now.. But nothing, she was now begining the think something had happened.. Or maybe he wasn't able to make it, that he was busy.. But he'd text her and tell her, surely? As she began to feel upset that he hadn't texted, her phone buzzed..

'Sorry about the late text - traffic was hectic, but I arrived OK. Look outside xx'

Standing up from the bed and looking out of the window, there he stood, leaning causally against the car, his car. But something was different. Opening the window and leaning out John shouted. 'Want to come for a drive with me? Just an hour and I'll drop you into work, please?' He smiled. Without any hesitation, she picked up her coat and phone and dashed outside. Closing the front door as quietly as she could, she walked down the path towards the gate. 'Before we go any further, I need to give you this.' He smiled and handed her the necklace he'd bought her. 'Its beautiful' She beamed. 'Just like you then' He replied. 'Come on, let's go.' John replied gesturing his hand and waiting for her to take hold of it.

***

As they approached the car, John turned her around and lent against the car. 'I'm not going to do anything, except this' He smiled and kissed her full square on the lips. Wrapping his arms around her and placing his hands on her waist, Sarah smiled soflty. John knew this was right, it felt right. He loved her and he knew she loved him. As he closed his eyes, she wrapped her arms tigher around him, it felt nice, he liked it. Placing his hands softly on her back, she began to run her fingers through his hair and down his spine. John was still smiling and his hold was getting tighter, he didn't want to let her go she was his dream.. His dream come true..

***

After spending an hour with John and talking to him about his plans for the day, he dropped her off at work and gave her a kiss on the lips. 'Maybe I'll see you later? What time do you finish?' John asked. 'I finish at 1pm, only on a half day today. I don't work full shifts on weekends any more, I had them change it. I work two shifts 2 or 3 times a week and do morning shifts on weekends. Friday to Sunday I do 8am - 1pm. I'm being cut down to 3 days a week soon, I was being given to many hours and I couldn't cope. I'll be working 16 hours instead of 30.' She explained. 'Do you like your job?' He asked. 'I don't mind it - it pays the bills. But I wouldn't say I love it either.' She smiled. 'Oh. Anyway, I'll let you go. Promise me you'll behave yourself?' John laughed. 'I always behave myself!' She smiled.

As he drove away, she stood and watched him leave the car park and proceeded on indoors. After signing in, she was greeted by Mark, who was looking a little run down and tired. 'Morning Mark, are you alright?' She asked. 'Not to bad Sarah, not to bad. You had a good morning so far?' He replied looking at the rota on the wall. 'Yeah, it was OK. Nothing special' She replied - that was a lie, it was amazing! After having a brief chat with Mark, she proceeded on into the store room. She was on warehouse and delivery shift today. She didn't mind this part of her work to much, it was the only place where she got time to think about things and be on her own. She was on the verge of looking for something more exciting, more exhillerating, more practical more challenging, but she didn't know what..

Organising the shelves into areas and tidying it up a little, when her phone suddenly vibrated. She'd forgotten that she'd left her mobile in her pocket on silent. Looking around, the warehouse was empty, she took her phone out of her pocket and looked at the message. 'One Message, John' it read.

'I know you're busy and you probably wont get this till your morning break, but I thought I'd text you anyway. I know in your eyes, you want a new career and different prospects and achievements, so I had a word with my Personal Assistant, Rhys and my Manager, Gavin and they're willing to give you a trial run. You can either have a go at management - of be his Personal Assistant OR have a go at doing what Rhys does - which is a Personal Assistant to me. I'll leave you to decide. Meet me at Starbucks. when you finish. Talk to you later xx'

***

Sitting out in the sunshine with Gavin and Rhys, and a glass of water, John put his mobile phone on the table and looked up at the sky briefly before looking at Rhys and smiling. John wanted to tell them she was more than a friend, but he wasn't sure if that was what she wanted. So he decided to wait for her to finish work and see what she wanted to do. The last thing he wanted to happen, was say something to someone without her say so and it upset her. He'd rather she be with him when he told people, that way, she knew he was serious about her and she was able to hear what they had to say.

'So, how are you feeling now?' Gavin asked. 'Fine now thanks, had a nice few days rest.' John smiled knowing deep down he was never ill or run down - he just wanted to talk to Sarah. 'Oh that's good to hear, glad you're feeling better' Gavin replied. 'So where'd you meet this friend of yours, have we ever met her before?' Rhys asked smiling. 'No, neither of you have met her. I met her at a signing, she's a really nice girl. I just know you'd both like her, she's really funny' John replied trying not to sound to fond of her. He didn't want to give it away, not yet, not without her being there.

'We'd love to meet her sometime, she sounds lovely.' Gavin replied sipping his lemonade. He knew something wasn't right with John - but he didn't want to intrude on his private matters. He looked happy - very happy. He hadn't seen him like this since Russell called to give him the part as Captain Jack in Torchwood. Seeing him happy made him wounder all the more who this girl was and what she was to him. A good friend, a relative? He wasn't quite sure.

***

The time was coming up to 1pm and Sarah was eager to finish and meet up with John again. She'd been thinking all day about the text he'd sent her and wanted to ask him a few questions about it. What were the perks, downsides and hours like? She was really interested in both job roles, but more so about the Personal Assistant to John, that one sounded the better one. She had so many questions to ask him and so many things to think about.

Looking at her watch again, it was 12:57pm. Collecting her things from her locker, she made her way down the stairs and out of the building. Before she could leave the car park, Mark shouted after her. 'Wait up a second, I have something to ask you' Mark replied running up towards her. 'What's up Mark, everything OK?' She replied hoping he wouldn't leave her talking for to long. 'I need to know' He began trying to get his breath back. '.. I need to know if you're avaliable Sunday morning?' He asked. 'You told me I had Sunday off??' Sarah replied. 'I know I did, but I need someone to cover for-' He replied - she interrupted him. 'No, I wont before you asked me.. I'm not going to let you work me like a slave.. I'm tired and run down and I can't cope with these stupid hours any more! You told me you were cutting down my hours and now you want me working god knows what hours? Well I'm sorry, but I've had enough. You either keep my hours as they are and cut them to 16 or I walk! Its your choice.' Sarah replied walking off out of the car park.

She was tired, run down and upset, she couldn't cope with people working her like a slave any more. She was tired of being made to work godly hours, why couldn't Mark ask some other slave to work the early shift? She was sick and tired of being first in the firing line and last to know things. She was tired of being put at the bottom of the dung pile and left to rot away. It was like they were working her like a pack horse, making her do this, that and the other without asking her what she wanted. She couldn't take this any more, she wanted out of that god forsaken place, they were horrible to her and she was no longer going to stand for it.

***

Sitting in the Starbucks coffee shop, John was waiting for Sarah to arrive in after her shift when his phone buzzed..

'Really ticked off today, not in a great mood. Had a bust up with Mark (Store Manager) over my hours and work schedule. He was going to make me work Sunday when he had it down as my day off and wanted me to work it. So I told him no and walked off. I don't think I can put up with working there anymore. I feel like I'm being worked like a pack horse and I'm sick of it.

As he was about to reply back to her message, she walked in and slammed her bag down on the the floor and sat down. 'I really really hate my job and I hate the people I work with and I really hate Mark. I could really smash his face in, he's a jerk.' Sarah replied looking cross and upset.

'Hey babe, I'm sure it'll all work out..' John replied. 'I don't think so, I've had a few bust-ups with a few people these last few days and I'm starting to get really fed up and down about my job. And I think its starting to make me ill' Sarah replied. 'Can you take a few days off?' John asked. 'I think I'm going to hand my notice in and look elsewhere.' She replied. 'Take a few days off, a holiday. And come with me to the states for a few days' John smiled.

'Really?!' Sarah replied. 'I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it' He smiled. 'I'll get Rhys to write your notice and send it in and you can start your training with either Rhys or Gavin when I get back from the states.' John replied. 'Have you decided what role you'd like to take up?' He continued. 'Yes, I think I'd prefer to learn the ropes with Rhys.' She replied. 'So, the Personal Assistant role then?' John replied. 'Yes, I think it could be fun.' She smiled. 'OK, I'll let Rhys know what you've decided.' He smiled.

John texted Rhys to tell him of her decision..

Hey Rhys! Sarah wants to learn the ropes with you, she wants to lean to be a Personal Assistant, are you OK with that?' He texted..

A few moments later, Rhys texted back..

'Yeah, that's fine. Welcome to the team, Sarah. I look forward to teaching you the ropes, I'm sure you'll pick it up real quick! Rhys.' He replied.

To Be Continued....

-- FOUR --

Lying on the sofa that night, the street lamps outside lighting up the cul-de-sac, Sarah was thinking about what went on earlier that day. The flat was in darkness and complete silence, the only noise to be heard was the humming of the fridge in the kitchen. Reaching for the notepad on the coffee table, she decided to compose a rough draft of her resignation letter...

Dear Mark,

I am writing this letter as resignation from my Sales Assistant role in your store with immediate effect. I feel its time I looked elsewhere for a new career.

I am sorry to have to do this to you at such short notice, but I feel I can no longer work the hours you've asked of me and I don't want to let you down by not working to my full potential. I fear it may be making me ill.

Please do not beg or plead with me to return, I have made up my mind and my choice has been made. Again, I am sorry.

I wish you and your staff the greatest of success in the future.

Thank you again for everything.

Kind regards,

Sarah

Putting the notepad back on the coffee table, Sarah got up from the sofa and walked into the kitchen to make herself a warm drink. She hadn't been in there long, when her phone buzzed with and incoming message, it was John...

'Hey! I know its getting late and you're probably tired. But, I just wanted to make sure you're OK. I know you're going through hell right now, but I just want you to know that I'm here if you need me xx' It read..

Replying to the message, she wrote...

'Thank you for your support, it really means a lot to me. I hope you can forgive me for being such a cow today. I didn't mean to bring my anger with me when I left work x'

A few moments later, he replied...

'I don't blame you for being angry. I completely understand why you're upset. You're welcome to vent your anger on me, if it'll make you feel better. Just remember this.. I love you, no matter what. Text you tomorrow. Love you xx'

***

Sitting on the bed, surfing the net on her laptop, her phone buzzed again, it was John...

'I hope I haven't disturbed you.. I know this is probably the wrong time to ask you this but.. Can I come and see you, tonight? I'm just really worried about you and I hate the thought of you being alone when you're feeling like this. Text me back, please x'

She replied..

'I don't have the flat to myself tonight, otherwise I'd say yes. You haven't disturbed me, I'm awake -- have been for a while. I can meet you somewhere if you want? I know it's almost midnight, but I need to see you. I miss you x'

He replied..

'Of course I'll meet you babe! You say where and I'll leave straight away. I miss you too x'

She replied..

Outside Starbucks, in the car park, in 10 minutes. Love you babe, see you soon xx'

Picking up her keys and putting her mobile in her pocket, she left the flat and made her way to meet John. She was still upset about what had happened, but she knew John would help make her feel better -- he was good at that -- making her smile. Crossing the road and entering the car park, John's car was already parked up outside the coffee shop, waiting for her. She knew it was him, she'd memorized his registration plate: JB67 WEW. She remembered it as: John Barrowman 67 -- He was born in '67 -- West End Wonder -- He was, after all, a well known and recognised, west end performer.

The car was also unique because of the sticker on his boot window -- it was a 'Dog's Trust Supporter' sticker, with two smaller stickers underneath. A Jack Russell Terrier and a Cocker Spaniel sticker. He owned two Cocker Spaniels, Harris and Charlie and a Jack Russell Terrier, Captain Jack, known as CJ. Harris was black and Charlie was a golden, Cocker Spaniel and CJ, he was a brown and white Jack Russell. Each dog had his own personality. Jack was a thug, Harris was shy and Charlie was laid back and on occassion would play with you if you bothered him enough.

Walking across the car park, her phone buzzed.

'Where are you? x'

She replied..

'Coming up behind your car -- can you not see me? Haha x'

As she placed the phone back in her pocket, John stepped out of the car and turned, closing the door behind him and clipping his keys to the belt hook on his jeans. The silver buckle, glistening under the street lamp. Reaching closer to the car, Sarah noticed John's face.

'What happened to you?' She asked looking at him closer. 'I caught my eye with my nail, I'm fine.' John replied. 'That doesn't look like a scratch to me.' She replied taking a tissue out of her pocket. 'Its still bleeding.' She continued. 'OK, the truth is, I had a run in with someone ealier on, its fine.' John replied. He'd been set on by a group of teenage lads that evening, it seemed for no reason at all..

'Why?' She asked. 'I don't know.. Jealous of my success and career I guess, I have no idea.. Thanks' He replied taking the tissue. 'People shouldn't set on people just out of spite, its disgusting.' Sarah replied leaning against the car. 'Its OK. I managed to keep myself calm and they soon realised I was bigger than them and left me alone. 'I think I was in the wrong place, at the wrong time and was set up on by mistake. They apologised afterwards.' John explained. 'I'm glad. Looks nasty though' She replied. 'Its not as bad as it looks' John smiled wincing at the pain as he dabbed his eye with the tissue.

'Are you OK now?' John asked scrunching up the tissue and putting it in his pocket. 'Not to bad.' She replied looking at his eye. 'Its stopped bleeding now.' John replied. 'Good. Sorry I made you come out here at this time of night, but I had no one else to turn to.' She replied folding her arms and looking down at the floor. 'Its fine. As I said to you before, I'm here if you need me. I don't mind coming out to meet you, I like seeing you.' John smiled wrapping his arms around her. 'Meeting like this is fun, being all secretive. Not that you're a secret.. Well you are.. But not like that.. Oh I'm not very good at explaining things' He replied. 'So I see.' She smirked. 'But I know what you mean' She smiled. 'Gavin and Rhys want to meet you at some point. They don't know about us being together.. But I wont say a word if you don't want me to' He smiled. 'You can, but not yet. Its still early days, I don't want to risk loosing you. Not for anything thing.' She smiled. 'OK.' He smiled kissing her on the forehead.

'Want to come meet them in a few hours -- as friends?' He asked. 'Yeah OK.' She smiled. 'Where you staying tonight?' Sarah asked. 'A hotel about 5 minutes from here.' John replied. 'Ah, so that's how you got here before me' Sarah smiled. 'Yeah. Came out as soon as you texted me' He smiled. 'Now what?' John asked looking around at the empty car park. 'I don't mind, you have any ideas?' Sarah replied. 'Well, nowhere's open at this time of night.' John replied. 'The pub up the roads open.' Sarah replied. 'I can't drink babe, driving.' John replied pointing at the car. 'You don't have to drink alcohol' She laughed. 'I knew that really.' John laughed. He felt so stupid. 'OK, if you say so.' Sarah replied. 'I don't know what else to suggest..' She continued thinking as hard as she could. 'I can smell burning, are you thinking?' John laughed. 'Oi! Cheeky get!' Sarah replied chasing him. 'I'm only messing with you babe, you know I am.' John replied grabbing her by the arm.

She flinched and stepped backwards. 'I'm not going to hit you, I'd never do that to a woman, you can trust me' John replied letting go. Sarah was still a little jumpy when he touched her from time to time, she was still getting used to the fact he wasn't like Andy. 'I'm sorry if I made you jump, I don't want you being scared of me.' John reassured her. 'I'm sorry, I'm still a little jumpy, I don't mean to make you worry.' She replied. 'Its OK, I just keep forgetting your past. I'm sorry.' John apologised. 'What that 'thing' did to you was horrible and I'm sorry you went through that. I can tell you now, I am nothing like that so called 'man'. He's a piece of dirt and should rot in hell for all I care.' John replied. 'Thanks babe.' She smiled. 'You're welcome. What I said is true. I promise to never harm you or upset or hurt you.' John smiled. 'I know that, I just keep stupidly thinking you're going to hit me or something.' She replied. 'Its understandable that you still think like that and I understand you're bound to think that for awhile.' John replied.

***

The next morning, Sarah woke up in a new surrounding, she wasn't 100% sure where she was, she couldn't remember the night before -- had she been drinking? Sitting upright and looking around the room, she found herself lying on a sofa. Still wondering where she was she began to panic.. What had happened last night? And why was she here? Looking down at herself, she was still in her clothes from the night before -- that much was obvious.

Glancing over her shoulder, the bathroom door opened and out walked John. 'Oh you're awake I see.' John smiled. ' What's wrong?' John asked looking at her. 'Why and how did I get here and what happened last night?' She asked. 'Don't start panicking. I brought you here last night, don't you remember? Nothing happened, that's why you're on the sofa. I slept in my bed. I did offer it to you but you wouldn't take it. You had a bit to much to drink last night so instead of me dropping you off at home and leaving you, I brought you back here. Why, what did you think happened?' John explained.

'I thought you'd-' She began but John jumped in before she could finish. 'Oh no no, I would NEVER EVER even DREAM of such a thing!' John reassured her, taking a seat by the side of her. 'Sorry, I didn't mean it the way it came out' She apologised. 'Its fine, I can see now why you'd think that, but no. Honestly, I didn't do anything.' John smiled. 'Drink?' He asked getting up from the sofa. 'Yes please, I'd-' She replied when suddenly a pain struck in her head. 'Headache?' John asked. 'Must be' She replied closing her eyes. When she opened them again, he was standing infront of her with two painkillers and a glass of water. 'Here, I always carry a box around with me, you never know when you may need them.' He smiled.

'I'm meeting up with Gavin and Rhys for lunch soon, would you like to come?' He asked opening his laptop bag. 'I thought you said you weren't bringing your laptop?' She asked looking at the bag. 'Oh, I haven't my mobile charger, IPod, phone case and keys are in here. Besides, I never carry it in an obvious looking bag and it never leaves my sight' He explained. 'Then what do you carry your laptop in when you do take it places?' She asked. 'Gavin carries it for me sometimes if we're away on business. It stays in a portable, secure safe in his hotel room normally. At home, it never leaves the house unless I have a bag with me to carry it in. Stays at home if I'm working locally' He explained. 'Ah, now I get you.' She smiled.

Walking into the bathroom to have a wash and tidy herself up a bit, John stopped her in the doorway. 'I'm sorry if what I did last night upset or worried you in any way, but I thought I was doing a good thing. Please don't hate me.' John pleaded. 'Why would I hate you? What you did was very thoughtful and considerate -- not a lot of men would of done that for me -- a lot of men would of taken advantage of my vaunerable state, but you didn't. Thank you.' She smiled kissing him on the cheek and closing the door.

John stood in the hallway for a moment, thinking over what she'd just said. She was right -- a lot of men would of taken advantage of her -- but not him. Just the thought of it made him feel sick. How could someone do that to someone, how could they be so selfish and feel good about it? John decided he wanted to pay this 'Andy' person a little visit. Make him pay for what he did. He was a sick man and he didn't want him getting away with it any longer. It was about time he was taught a lesson in how to treat a woman...

Sitting in a local beer garden having lunch, Gavin, Rhys, John and Sarah were enjoying a nice meal and a chat. 'So, where'd you meet and how long have you been friends?' Gavin asked sipping his pint. 'Just over a month, I met her at the DVD signing in Cardiff. We were talking a lot that day. We became good friends and we still are. She wants a new career, so wants to give Personal Assisting a go.' John explained. 'OK. First off, how much background do you know about John?' Rhys asked putting his folk down on his plate and wiping his mouth with his napkin. 'I did a lot of research on his entertainment and performance background.' Sarah replied.

'OK. Lets test you.. Hmm.. John's date of birth, when he first performed on the west end stage, what musical was it and which character did he play?' Rhys asked awaiting her reply. 'March 11th, 1967. His first break in the west end came in 1994 as Billy Crocker in Anything Goes' Sarah replied. 'Nice. Correct.. How many weeks a year does John take a holiday?' Rhys asked. 'Two weeks every year' She smiled. 'Cor blimey!' Gavin replied. 'Let me ask her one.' John replied winking at her through his sunglasses. 'OK. Go ahead.' Rhys replied. 'My registratrion plate number...' John asked. 'JB67 WEW' She smiled.

'OK Sarah.. We'll start your proper training with me after John returns from the US in three weeks time.' Rhys smiled and rose to his feet. 'I'm off. John, I'll see you in three weeks, say hello to your folks for me.' He smiled and left the premises of the pub. 'Now he's gone, may I ask the truth behind your real relationship..' Gavin asked looking at them. Looking at each other briefly and then back at Gavin, John was about to speak when Sarah jumped in. 'Like we've already said, we're just really good friends. And now, I must be off. I have things to do.' And she left.

'You just have to butt in, don't you?' John blurted. 'Me!? I'm not the one hiding something!' Gavin replied. 'Why do you have to know EVERYTHING about my private life?' John replied getting up from the seat. 'I strongly suggest you keep your nose out of my affairs and private life until I ask you for your opinion, you got that?!' And he left.

***

Sarah was standing in the car park when John ran to catch her before she left. 'I'm sorry about Gavin. I haven't said anything to him, I promise.' John replied. 'I never said or thought you did.' Sarah replied. She seemed a little edgy.. 'Are yo OK?' John asked. She was acting very strange and had been since she had a phone call earlier. 'You've been in a funny mood since we left the hotel.' John replied. 'Have I?' She replied. 'Sorry about that, I don't mean to be. Just thinking about that phonecall I got earlier.' She replied. 'Who was it?' He asked. 'It.. It was.. Andy' Sarah replied looking down. 'What's he said to you?' John asked. 'He's pestering me again and wont leave me alone.' She replied.

'He has no right to be harassing you!' John replied. He was fuming that scum bag was still pestering her. 'Its time he had a taste of his own medicine.' John muttered to himself. 'What?' Sarah asked. 'Oh nothing' John replied. 'I gotta go, I'll text you later, I promise.' John smiled and walked away. 'Where you going?' She shouted after him. 'To sort something out, I'll speak to you later.' John shouted back. 'You're not going to see him are you?' She ran after him. 'He needs teaching a lesson.' John replied climbing into the car. 'Please, just leave it, I'll deal with it.' She pleaded. 'I'm sorry, but I can't stand around and watch him do this to you.' John replied. 'Please don't!' She pleaded. 'Go home and stay there, I'll be in contact' And he drove off.

Sarah stood and watched him shoot off across the car park and onto the main road. She wasn't sure what he meant by 'sorting something out' but she was scared he'd get himself hurt. She looked around for some idea on what to do next, but nothing was helping her.

***

John had spent the morning, while Sarah was in the bathroom, doing research on this 'Andy Sailcombe' person she kept telling him about and knew where he lived and where he worked. It was now time to pay him that little 'visit' he was thinking about. John's phone rang.. And rang.. And rang -- it was Sarah. Finally after a few continuous rings, he reached over and cut off the call and switched off his mobile.. He didn't want any interruptions..

***

Sarah was still standing in the car park of the pub, ringing and ringing John, hoping he'd pick up.. The line went dead. 'The mobile you are calling is switched off, please try again later.' Came the network operator. John had turned off his phone.. Sarah was now worrying for his safety and hoping he'd return to her in one piece and not in a body bag.. She was now getting scared. She ran all the way home and waited for the call from John like he'd promised. That's if he'd get out alive..

-- FIVE --

Sitting in his car, the radio muted and sitting in complete silence, John was wondering what to do next. The sun was setting and it was getting dark, John didn't want to get himself into trouble, because he knew he'd end up probably loosing Sarah and he wasn't prepared to risk that, not ever.

It looked like someone was at home, the livingroom lights were glowing through the closed curtains, but was Andy in, or someone else? Tapping the steering wheel, John thought about how to go about getting this scum bag out of Sarah's life, for good. Looking at the time on his dashboard, it was now reaching 5:30pm. He had to do this and soon. It was time someone made him pay for what he did. John climbed out of his car and proceeded up the path...

***

Sarah sat looking at the clock, it was nearly 5:30pm and she still hadn't heard from him.. What was he up to, what was he thinking and most of all, was he OK?? Lying on the bed, staring up at the celing, tears rolled down her cheeks and onto her pillow. She was petrified of the thought of loosing him and for what? Some stupid man who was now her ex?? She wished now, she hadn't said anything and maybe John's life wouldn't be in danger.. She felt guilty. She knew, if John was to get hurt or worse, killed it'd be all her fault.. She cried uncontrollably into her pillow...

***

John closed the gate quietly and continued up the path towards the front door. He could hear the TV in the front room, some sort of music was playing, possibly an advert or something.. Standing on the porch in front of the door, John rang the door bell and waitied for whoever was inside to answer..

'Love, if you're after Andy 'Scumbag' Sailcombe, he's not in. And believe me, he's not worth the air you breath. You know.. Nobody in this street likes that guy and I'm surprised anyone's knocking at his door. He never gets visitors' A young lady about 30 smiled. 'Do you know where I can find him?' John asked. 'He works in the corner shop around the corner, he gets home about 6pm.' She smiled. 'Thank you for your assistance' He replied.

'If you see him, I was never here.' John winked and jogged off down the path and across the street. The young lady in her fluffy slippers and dressing gown, placed her rubbish in her wheelie bin and went back indoors, closing the door behind her. He wasn't the only person that hated Andy, it seemed everyone hated him and wanted him off the street. John could arrange that, no problem.. John turned the key in the ignition and drove off towards the corner shop where Andy worked..

***

Sarah tried John's mobile again.. Nothing, it was still switched off. What the hell was he up to? She sat staring out of the window when her phone rang.. 'Withheld' it read. Picking it up, the person on the other end spoke. 'Don't panic, I'm fine. I'm going to sort this out once and for all. He wont be bothering you any more when I've finished with him.' The voice explained, it was John. 'Please don't do any thing stupid. I want you home in one piece.. With me, where you belong. Please, you don't have to do this.' She sobbed. 'I have too. Please, don't cry. I love you.' And he hung up...

***

Standing on the street corner, watching the shop closely, John wondered what he looked like. Stolling towards the shop, so not to draw attention to himself, he walked into the shop. He walked over to the magazine aisle and proceeded to look at magazines -- or at least pretend too.. He was listening out for someone to mention his name. Glancing up every few minutes he was watching the young man behind the counter, who was filling up the tobacco shelves. Was that him?? John wasn't sure..

Walking back out of the store, he looked down at his watch. It was now 5:55pm. The store would be closing shortly, so he decided to wait in the staff car park and wait for Andy to come out.. He had only been sitting there a few moments when the lad from the shop walked across the car park. Springing out of the car, the young lad stopped and looked at him. 'Is your name Andy? Andy Sailcombe?' John asked politely. 'Yes, who's asking?' The lad replied slightly worried. 'You don't need to know that.. You see, I have reason to believe you're a nasty man, Sailcombe.' John replied walking towards him..

Andy's hands were shaking and he looked scared.. Good, that's how John wanted him to look. Taking his car keys and putting them on his belt buckle, John glanced up and Andy was looking around. 'Are you looking for something?' John asked. 'No..' He hesitated. 'Hmm.. Something tells me you're lying to me, Andy. And I don't like liars.' John smirked placing his hand on his pocket.. 'A little birdie tells me you abuse people.. And not just any people.. Women. I believe that's what's known as domestic abuse.. But of course you'd know all about that, wouldn't you?' John replied removing his hand from his pocket. 'Come with me, we can talk more privately then..' John smiled gesturing to his car.

***

Sarah was fiddling with her phone, she was wondering what was going on.. Throwing it down on the bed, Sarah looked at the clock again... 6:15pm.. She wanted to go out and find him, but she didn't want to leave the house, in case he came home. So, she was left with no choice but to wait for him to arrive home..

***

Arriving in the local woods, John pulled up in the lay by and looked at Andy, who was quivering in his seat. 'Now, where were we?' John smirked. 'I don't know what you want from me, sir.' He stuttered.. 'The truth, Andy. I want to know everything.. Why you do it, how it makes you feel. Why you're such a sick man. I want to know how you sleep at night, knowing you do this to people.' John replied locking the car so he couldn't run away. This was it, Andy was trapped, no where to run, no where to hide. John had him just where he wanted him..

Laughing to himself, Andy looked up and smiled. 'OK.. You want to know the truth? I do it for fun, because I get a kick from it. Knowing how vunerabnle women are, they're any easy target.' Andy smirked. Deep down John was raging, he wanted to smack him in the face, he was evil. 'You know, I dated this girl, she was a sweet girl, you know what I thought' Andy asked. 'What?' John replied. 'Easy target.. Scared, shy.. She was the ugliest thing I'd ever seen, but she was easy.' Andy smiled. 'What did you do to her, Andy?' John asked resisting the urge to punch him. 'I took advantage of her, made her feel worthless, a no body.. It was easy.' Andy replied. 'Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to go now..' Andy replied.

'I'm afraid you're going no where my friend.' John smiled. Whilst Andy was explaining himself, he had the police listening in on his conversation with him. Andy had no where to run. Policemen surrounded the car and Andy was taken off by two burly policemen and thrown in the cells. 'Andy Sailcombe, I am arresting you under the ground of domestic abuse. You do not have to say anything. But, anything you do say maybe used in evidence which you will later rely on in court. Do you understand?' The policeman explained as he took him off and put him in the car. John felt good that he was now off the streets and behind bars.

***

Still sat perched on the end of her bed, Sarah's phone rang, it was John.

'Decided to turn your phone on now then?' She replied. 'Yeah. I'm sorry if I've upset you, but it needed to be done.' He replied. 'You didn't need to do anything, you could of got yourself killed!' She raged. 'Look, I'll apologise to you properly when I get back to you. But I just want to let you know. Andy wont be bothering you now for a very long time. You're safe' John replied. 'What did you do to him?' She asked. 'I had him arrested. I really wanted to punch him in the face, but I stopped myself' John replied. 'I'll be there in 15 minutes. And.. I'm sorry. I love you babe, forever and always. Me and you, against the world.' And he hung up.

She sat wondering what Andy had told him and how John took it. Sarah had warned him he was dangerous.. Then she realised.. Even though she told him Andy was dangerous, he stuck around.. John must really feel something for her to put his life on the line to get him off her back. Sarah sat and smiled, she texted him to apologise for shouting at him..

'Look, I'm sorry I had a go at you. I was worried about you. Thank you for your support, it means a lot. Love you, see you soon xx'

She texted.. A few moments later, he replied.

'Its OK, I understand why you were upset and worried and I shouldn't of done what I did without telling you. But what I did I wont take back, he deserved to put behind bars. See you soon xx'

He replied..

***

Driving back to Sarah's place, John was happy that Andy was now behind bars and away from Sarah and any other women he may have abused. John decided to stop off and get Sarah a little gift to apologise for making her worry.. Spotting a gift he though she'd like, he walked towards the check out. The gift was a medium brown bear holding a heart that had 'I Love You' written on it.
