So, while searching and shopping for a new computer yesterday I noticed that a lot of the new computers do not have a CD/DVD drive with them. You have to buy them separately which can be used via USB. Has anyone else noticed this? What do you think about it?

I've known that Apple computers often don't have the storage devices you mention, but had never noticed that with PCs. Were the computers you were looking at Apples or PCs.

Macs have been that way for a while. I think a lot of Ultrabooks don't have disc drives because thats the point, they're thin and disc drives take up a lot of room.

They were PC's! I just bought a new one yesterday and had to buy a dvd/cd external usb drive to go with it lol.

Wow that sounds :lame:

Seems like something you'd want a computer to have! I know I would.

Lots of people don't need disc drives anymore. Digital downloads sort of replaced them.

I('d still want to) have one, but I don't use it too much.

My DVD player recently broke and I've been watching DVD's on my computer lately. If that happens again in the future, and I have a computer without a DVD drive, what am I gonna do?
:panic:
