Ebola has so far killed more than 4,000 people worldwide. An expert at the UN has said the world will live with it "forever" unless global action stops the virus.

Are the media going over the top like they did with Bird Flu or is there reason to be concerned time round?

if 10 is the most worried then my vote would be a 10...

any and all diseases that kill should be treated as a threat and of the up most importance...

My vote was 4. Knowing how it is spread and how to take precautions, I am not terribly worried about getting the disease.

on a side note, just because something is an high priority, doesn't mean a fear factor comes into place... or making outbreaks a big deal means we noticed and understood how dangerous it is, and that's why we have agencies to only deal with stuff like this and put into place precautions to avoid deaths of people...

on the other hand, the fear factor is different and should be based upon each case individually, by going by a case-by-case basis, it depends on the situation, and how bad it got, as well as how many effected and died...

I watched something the other day where the spokesperson speaking at this press conference was saying that is what they do. They want to scare people so that folks will take more precaution as they travel and go about their lives. It is a serious virus that can be deadly, and the only way to get people to understand that is to scare them.

regardless, there's always going to be people that live in fear and the people that just don't care or wont care about it...

How big of a threat is Ebola to the United States?
Three, at best. Is it something that we should worry about? To a certain degree, yes...is it something that should cause panic & fear? Not at present.

Obviously. But if you can get those in between, that helps a lot.

yes, hopefully...

educating people about diseases is always good...

I'm not sure yet in the middle but what i'm sick of is people like PewDiePie mocking the disease and the human race thinks this is ok because of his simple number count on his channel.

Is 1 the most worried or is 10 the most worried? Need some specifics here in order to vote in the poll.

Ditto on this question.

But I would rank it pretty high if it is not controlled by January and the deaths have doubled. Or if Europe starts getting random cases here and there. And if thats happens it truly is going worldwide.

I've gone 3.
Here in Europe it's almost inevitable we're going to see some spread
There obviously considerable risk and as has been seen at what's happened in Texas, mistakes are going to cost lives.
Hopefully this and any further scares will now force authorities to increase screening and cause other measures to be stepped up.

So I guess zero. Compare ebola to... just about anything else, and I guarantee the odds are stacked that the other thing is more likely to kill you than ebola is.

Good point.

the World Health Organization has issues it as the biggest health threat in the world at the moment and expect fatalities to double by Christmas.

And all that is from free will and personal choice. Having your organs melt from some virus is not. Fear is justified when they have no control of one of the most deadly things nature has ever created in Africa. And our own government showing utter incompetence on a daily basis on how to handle this matter.

We are so screwed! Tom Frieden the head of the CDC was a community organizer! The internal people who work at the CDC that actually know what they are doing must be so frustrated with this stupid man. Go to minute 3:55.
