I looked it up and the correct abbreviation is:

Etc.

It's an abbreviation of the Latin phrase et cetera which means and other things or and so on.

I am trying to train my mind to stop writing ect. Its soooooo hard though.

I've always written it etc...

I learnt it as 'et cetera' because I had a teacher who always said things like, And so they were shipped to Australia et cetera et cetera.

Yeah I had teachers that said that too.

I still type ect though.

I believe that the ect abrviation came from the fact that many Americans unknowingly pronounced et cetera as ecksetera which, if one did not know any better, would mean that an abreviation of ecksetera would be ect. I actually learned the phrase when I was little from the old Prince & I movie when the Prince says Et cettera! Et cettera! Et cettera! not really knowint it's meaning. I was, however, unaware that it was latin.

Haha, I always used to use Ect and thought that was the best way. I think I realised it should actually be Etc though and have been using that way ever since.

I've never known anyone that spelled it ect. I learned early on that it stood for et cetera. So this topic just opened up my eyes

I used to write it at school, until I learned the right way, so please don't hang me out to dry for it!
