Do you ever watch a movie on basic cable? Edited for TV? Do you think the editing and commercials ruin the movie for you?

I am watching 21 jump street on FX. The edits are funny. Like instead of saying "Get in the fucking car!" they said "Get in the fancy car!"

i tend to pass on them.........the editing ruins it, especially if you have seen the proper version before

Agreed.

Making even a "PG-13" film Family Friendly simply tears it apart.

A good example is something as innocuous as Down Periscope from 1996, with Kelsey Grammer and William Macy.

The most interesting crewman on Grammer's sub, played by Bradford Tatum, ends up being worthless, and the reason Grammer is in command to begin with, while always part of the joke, is never made clear in the cut version.

It wasn't 'edited for television' it was 'mangled for television'.
