An Aleut village in Alaska offered to swap 50,000 acres of land for use as a wildlife refuge in return for being allowed to build an 11-mile gravel road to an airport so that villagers in need of lifesaving medical care could be transported to Anchorage. They have been fighting the Federal Government for thirty years to build the road and, in that time, nineteen people have died for lack of medical care they could otherwise have received.

But the Obama Department of the Interior shot them down, because Gaia.

Safe to bet Interior Secretary Sally Jewell never has to worry about being hundreds of miles from the nearest life-saving medical care.

The Aleuts should just go ahead and build the road and dare the Feds to stop them. Similar to what Democrat Chicago Mayor Richard Daley did with Meigs Airfield back in 2003. He got away with it, of course, because he’s a Democrat.
