Yes.
Colds, coughs, and even at one time went with a fever and a sore ass throat. It turned out it was strep. This was many years ago at my first job. I tried to tell my mom I was feeling like shit... I was in high school at the time, and yeah... Basically sucked it up that day, went to school, seen the nurse, and was sent home. Nurse advised me to see my doctor or go to a clinic which I/we did.
Yeah pre Covid I would but I don’t as much anymore.Back in the day going to work sick seemed like it was encouraged, now they write people up or fire people who knowingly go into work sick.
Same here. I got plenty of sick time, might as well use it.Yeah pre Covid I would but I don’t as much anymore.

As a polar opposite to my coworkers who call in sick every time they so much as sneeze, the idea of using health as an excuse to avoid going to work is alien to me, unless I'm completely incapacitated, or I'm under doctor's orders to stay put, which happened back in 2018 when my GP discovered I have a severely elevated blood pressure (180 / 120) during a routine checkup, immediately sending me to sick leave, despite me not feeling any ill effects, thus being able to work.
Yes, an office job. That's what irritates me about my coworkers, fellow IT technicians I share the office with. They both made it clear they don't like the job and don't want to do it, so they purposely look for any excuse not to show up. Their GPs are more than happy to enable them in that practice.
I feel COVID has changed how employers handle sick employees/staff or at least I hope...Back in the day going to work sick seemed like it was encouraged, now they write people up or fire people who knowingly go into work sick.
I have had BP that high before which got me put on to blood pressure medication. I think I am doing just fine now though.I have a severely elevated blood pressure (180 / 120) during a routine checkup, immediately sending me to sick leave, despite me not feeling any ill effects, thus being able to work.
Yeah less of them trying to talk you into coming into work. I've been asked to come in and work half a shift before when I tried to call in. That doesn't happen anymore.I feel COVID has changed how employers handle sick employees/staff or at least I hope...
