More than 1,000 criminal offences involving Facebook were reported last year, police have revealed.

A number of the crimes – such as sexual grooming and harassment – were committed with the ‘help’ of the social network website.

In one case, Facebook was used by a registered sex offender to befriend a 14-year-old girl, who he went on to meet and ask for sex.

A jilted husband also used the site to post naked pictures of his ex-wife, police in England and Wales said.

And a youngster was told she would be beaten up if she didn’t send naked pictures of herself via Facebook.

Well, this is no surprise, as many other crimes that were Facebook-related were done for a long while, let alone just the past year.

Doesn't surprise me either. Actually, I would have thought the figure would be higher. Why people go on Facebook and reveal their personal information for the world to see, is beyond me. This is just another reason, in my list of long reasons, I would never have a Facebook account. Facebook is pure evil!

Exactly. It should be only shared by your friends and your friends ONLY. Privacy settings are there for a reason, but some people are to gullible to know about it, therefore letting shit like this happen.

I think Mark Zuckerberg should at least do more to prevent any more of this happening again. These sex offenders and other forums of nasty and stupid people, along with the young people who are letting bad things happen to them, are tarnishing Facebook's reputation.
