A Facebook page set up to monitor paedophiles must be taken down following a case brought by a convicted sex offender who features on it.
The page, called ââ¬ÅKeeping our kids safe from predators,ââ¬Â included a photograph of the man and comments he said were threatening.
A judge gave the social network 72 hours to remove it after ruling that some of the content constituted harassment of the man and risked infringing his human rights.
The page featured material on paedophiles in Northern Ireland and the offender, who cannot be identified, claimed it was an attempt to vilify and whip up hatred against him.
He was given a six year jail term for multiple child sex offences committed more than 20 years ago. The man had been found guilty of indecent assault, gross indecency with a child and inciting a child to commit an act of gross indecency.
But he alleged the content on the Facebook page amounted to harassment, misuse of private information and a breach of his right to privacy and freedom from inhuman or degrading treatment.
