...you know, I'm starting to wonder if the Secret Service isn't just mailing it in nowadays...
An unidentified man posing as Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (D-N.J.) made it through a Secret Service screening and backstage with President Obama at a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation event, a White House official told Bloomberg news.

A White House staffer asked the man to leave after a colleague found out he was not the New Jersey representative, according to Bloomberg, which reported the latest example of lax security surrounding the president on Friday.

It’s not clear how close the man got to Obama or the first lady.

The news comes after a slew of blunders forced the resignation of Secret Service Director Julia Pierson this week. The incidents included an armed security contractor with a criminal record being allowed to ride in an elevator with Obama last month.

A Secret Service spokesman said the agency screened all who attended the CBC dinner held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center where Obama spoke.

“This guy went through security, fully screened,” said Brian Leary, an agency spokesman.

LaVerne Alexander, Payne's chief of staff, said Thursday she was unaware of the incident, according to the report.

I thought it was very clear the reason why he got so close to Obama was?

One word: incompetence

How can you tell a "real" Congress Critter from a fake one?

-comedic pause-

You can't, they're ALL fake.

I actually laughed at that one...but does that also mean elections are fake too, Doc?:|:whistle::whistle::whistle:

It might be a real election if the people voting had to prove they had the legal right to do so...

... ... like they do to buy sinus meds.

or is the old saw true?

VOTE EARLY AND OFTEN

No problem.

That article is from 2007.

This is from 2014, and, I believe, it's from down your way.

Raleigh, N.C. – House Speaker Thom Tillis (R-Mecklenburg) and Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) issued a joint statement Wednesday in response to more alarming evidence of voter error and fraud discovered by the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

Initial findings from the Board presented to the Joint Legislative Elections Oversight Committee today show:

765 voters with an exact match of first and last name, DOB and last four digits of SSN were registered in N.C. and another state and voted in N.C. and the other state in the 2012 general election.
35,750 voters with the same first and last name and DOB were registered in N.C. and another state and voted in both states in the 2012 general election.
155,692 voters with the same first and last name, DOB and last four digits of SSN were registered in N.C. and another state – and the latest date of registration or voter activity did not take place within N.C.

These findings only take into account data from the 28 states who participated in the 2014 Interstate Crosscheck, leaving out potential voter error and fraud in the 22 states that do not participate in the consortium.
