It goes without saying that Disney has made plenty of changes across the company over the years. Now, however, they’ve made a major change to an iconic character that fans have become accustomed to at Disney World for the last 50 years.

This decision to cancel the character began when Disney started renovating one of their most iconic attractions. The attraction, located at Disney World, is none other than the Country Bear Jamboree. It underwent renovations earlier this year.

At the time, however, this led to the absence of one of the attraction’s characters: Liver Lips McGrowl. Now the character has been confirmed to be canceled. Inside The Magic describes the changes to the character as follows:

“The decision to remove Liver Lips McGrowl was driven by concerns over the character’s name. The term ‘liver lips’ is considered derogatory and offensive, as it is associated with excessive alcohol consumption and the resulting liver damage. The phrase is deemed to be insensitive and outdated, prompting Disney’s decision to modify the character.”

The streaming service Max, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has been a rather successful platform with its varied selection of both films and television shows. Now one such offering, a beloved 90’s movie, is currently dominating the Max streaming charts.

Of course, it’s not exactly a surprise. A sequel to this particular movie is just now hitting theaters several decades after its release. It seems as though fans are eager to revisit the film that started it all prior to seeing the new sequel.

The film has just entered the Top 10 list on Max as of this writing. It’s great to see considering that the film was first released in 1996, proving that it can still offer something to audiences so many years later. Especially when a new sequel is just on the horizon.

The film, if you haven’t guessed already, is none other than Twister. The 1996 blockbuster from director Jan de Bont stars Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton as part of a group of storm chasers that become involved with some dangerous tornados. It’s a great premise for a modern-day disaster movie, and it’s clear why they revisited the concept for a sequel this year.
