POLICE have released the names of the mother and her three children killed in a crash in Kambalda on Sunday night — and the grieving father has been contacted in Zimbabwe and told of the tragedy.

Emmet Moyo, 38, Sibonginkosi (Tahila), 8, Sibusiso (Blessing), 5, and baby Sandulo died when the Hyundai Getz they were travelling in collided head-on with a 40-seater bus on the Goldfields Highway on Sunday night.

Mrs Moyo’s husband and father of the children had flown to Zimbabwe, the family’s home country, on Friday and was informed of the crash overnight.

The young family were on their way home to Kambalda West after attending a church service conducted by Pastor Phil of the Forward in Faith Pentecostal Church when tragedy struck.

This morning, Pastor Phil said the father had since been told the terrible news.

“I have just been talking with him,” the pastor told 6PR radio.

“We have given him the news and we are now working together to work out how we can repatriate the bodies back home.

“He is trying to get to terms with things.

“It’s a very hard and difficult time now. We are trying to cope.”

Pastor Phil said the family were strong in their faith.

“They loved God so much and they worked hard to encourage others to love God.”

Police said the highway was wet after heavy rains on Sunday, which may have contributed to the crash.

They are preparing a report for the coroner.

Yesterday police said it appeared in the dark, wet conditions one of the vehicles has veered onto the wrong side of the road and the collision occurred on a bend.

Friends of the mother have been left shattered saying the young family would be terribly missed.

“I just wish it was just a dream and we’ll wake up and she’ll be just there,” one family friend told Nine News.

Another friend said: “We have come to be like one close family from Zimbabwe. Whatever happens to one we take as ours as well, so we still can’t believe it.”

The deaths take the state’s road toll for 2014 to 149, up 23 on the same time last year.

There were nine deaths from Friday night to Monday morning, the spate prompting Assistant commissioner Nick Anticich to urge motorists to be more careful on the road.
