Ever had problems with the SD card on your phone? I hear they can go bad over time.

The one in my phone randomly erased itself and showed up as "blank SD card" whenever I restarted the phone.

Half my apps were located on the SD card as well as a few pictures that I would have wanted to keep.

The card wasn't readable in my computer either.

Shame I had to re format my SD card and do a factory reset on my phone to get everything working again and lost some things in the process.

Even though the SD card is working now after formatting it, I'm worried it might do this again. It is a couple years old after all, used it in a couple different phones.

Do SD cards have an expiration date? How long would you recommend using one before replacing it?

SD cards don't expire themselves. But they might fail if used incorrectly.

They fail at random for no reason too, even when used correctly.

What might have happened was that something on the card was downloading an update and the process was interrupted and did not re-initiate, thereby causing an error on the card that simply pissed everything off.

That very well could have been the issue, not sure. :|

Well whatever happened, I'm not happy about it. Life goes on I suppose. :P

Yeah I should have had a backup of all the SD card's data on my computer so I could just drag and drop and make the SD card and my phone think nothing happened.
