Time: FCC Fines AT & T $100 Million Over Data Speeds
The FCC levied a $100 million fine against AT&T, saying the company misled consumers over wireless data speeds.

Last year the Federal Trade Commission sued telecom giant AT&T over data throttling. According to Consumerist.com, 3.5 million AT&T customers were affected. Now, the Federal Communications Commission is fining AT&T $100 million based on allegations that it is misleading its customers about data slowdowns. AT&T implemented a speed cap on users’ data, which, the FCC says, slowed it for as many as 12 days each month. AT&T disputes the FCC’s allegations. An important related question: How much data do you actually need?
