Shamelessly stealing this from a thread I saw a while ago on the Final Fantasy subreddit. But it expanding it. Are there any retro/classic games that you would like to see given the same remake treatment that has been given to Final Fantasy VII?

FF7 is a interesting one. Cause it wasn't 100% faithful to the original so is that what your asking? A remake which updates graphically but slightly changes the narrative?

If so, maybe an LA Noire where Detective Cole doesn't die?
Or maybe Halo Reach where Noble 6 survives.
Maybe completely change the storyline of tell tales walking dead by having Lee survive the first series?

I miss the FF classic trick on PS when u cast regen then open the cd lid then let the regen gradually heal til full hp then close the cd lid back then resume the battle normally

Yeah, I haven't played it but I am aware they changed things up a lot. But yes, that is what I was alluding to. Both in terms of the graphical overhaul and treating the source material as more of an inspiration from which they can take creative liberties. This applying to things like gameplay mechanics and plot delivery. If I was to stick to the older Final Fantasy games, I would be quite curious as to how this would look for a pre VII title. The transition from 2D to that level of 3D as well as how they would tell the stories given more modern plot styles. Something like Final Fantasy IV.

I honestly never knew about that trick! Not that I could do it anymore since I only own it digitally now haha.

They already released a remake of Final Fantasy 7 on the PS4 back in 2020. It is faithful to the original but it also hints it's part of an alternate time line.

I am not entirely sure what you are implying. It seems like you might have misunderstood the thread?

Yeah, you're talking about a remaster while your thread says "REMAKE TREATMENT". Well, it got the remake treatment alright. Which takes away any point there is to a remaster of the old 1997 PS1 game that I've played multiple times. At this point, I myself wouldn't even bother with the old one. I felt the remake was 100 times better.

So you are just being pedantic and pointing out I messed up with one word in the initial post? I have edited the wording to correct it for you.

I thought the remake was amazing. It was beautifully done. If you get a chance you should try it out if you haven't. It's pretty easy to play through. Level 50 is the cap.

It is definitely a game I plan on playing at some point. I own a copy of it. At the moment I am back in Skyrim again though. 😂😂

I maxed out once I got to the arena and did that boss battle. After you max out, the game goes by really fast. I was really hoping they would have released part 2 by now.

Xenogears--hands down. That and FFVI.
Final Fantasy VI would be so incredibly interesting to see what they would do with it. I reckon that would be so for IV, V and VI. I have heard really positive things about Xenogears but never played it myself. 😅😅

It's so, so good. The second half was unpolished, but it deserves a remake and a real ending.

Since I haven't played it, I can definitely get behind a remake. I would be even happier if it got both a remake and a port to modern consoles haha. 😆
