So Prince William has finally proposed to Kate Middleton and they are getting married next year. Good on them!!!

But why does Kate feel compelled to now change her name to Catherine? It's a real shame if this was forced on her by Palace protocol.

I know, good thing it's finally happened

Well he's been with her for 8 or 9 years, so it was kinda on the cards that he would propose to her. (It would have been a hell of a kick in the teeth for her if he hadn't!)

And on the plus side, her parents are millionaires ... so there'll be no repeat of a Fergie, draining the royal coffers!

I didn't hear about her changing her name but maybe it will be like Prince Harry being called Harry when his official name is Henry.

Can't wait for all the 'William and Catherine' mugs, plates and other ultra-tacky paraphernalia to hit the streets. I bet the production lines have already started!

Yeaaa, I'm really happy for them. They're adorable!

But, darn, I wish William would have bought her a new engagement ring (with no bad marriage history) instead of giving her Princess Diana's.

(That blue sapphire would be lovely for a right hand ring.)

Ive never even heard of them.

Shows how much I know about royalty in other countries.

This was the talk around the staff room lunch table today.

Some said he shouldn't give a ring with a bad history. Some said they were thrilled that the iconic Diana's ring would be used.

Whatever his choice Wills would have had people disagreeing with him.

Apparently the Germans are thrilled as they adore British weddings. There again, our Royal family are half-German (or more!)
