Fireworks mark new year around world

I heard a bunch last night from around my neighborhood. It sounded like the Apocalypse! :panic:

I saw and heard a lot of fireworks while I was on duty last night. Once I came home, it was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. Glad I don't have any neighbors. I was dead tired and just needed to sleep.

I bet! Sleep longer than 5 hours?

Heaps of illegal ones going off in backyards surrounding my house, it sounded like. :P

Yeah, here anything that shoots into the sky is illegal for residential use, but that didn't stop anyone. :P

Indiana state law says that cities can rule what days it is legal to set off fireworks. I do not live in the city though, I live in the township part of the city so their fireworks rules don't really apply, so at midnight I heard a TON of fireworks.

The bangs I was hearing started at about 9 o'clock. Haha.

Though the council has a legal fire works display in like every park ever. So I guess no one is missing out.

On the 4th of July, the city of Carmel (where I'm close to) has a fireworks special that is rather interesting. They partner up with Indianapolis soft rock radio station WYXB B105.7 (since the closest major city is Indianapolis) to play music that synchronizes with the fireworks. It's pretty cool. :)

Man, I so hope that's on YouTube.
Sounds like it would be a pain in the arse to set up...

Yeah, it's cool, there's several videos of it up on Youtube right now. No radio in the background in some though. :(

Two years ago, the Carmel one was almost cancelled cause it got so hot, it reached 107 degrees Farenheit one day and had over 20 days of 100+ temps, which is odd for Indiana because we're usually very temperate. Carmel didn't have to cancel cause they didn't have a lawn watering ban like Indianapolis did, and they were shooting the fireworks from an asphalt parking lot. :)

Didn't hear any near me but then I am out in the middle of farmland.

Also didn't watch any on tele. Was watching a music DVD and didn't even realise when it was midnight.
