Well me and my neighbors were sitting out lighting fireworks (tomorrow is independence day but we were just doing a little bit today for fun).. It was about 9:00 at night.. Not really late. The guy from across the street comes charging out his door and over to us. He starts going off about how loud the fireworks were and said that he didn't want to hear it. He said he was going to call the police if we didnt stop. I find it kind of ironic because he always has friends over with music semi-loud until like 10:00 or 11 at night. I said its not even 10pm yet, call the police they wont even bother to come out. So he said he says something like I'll shut you retards up myself then and snatches the lighter out of my hand. Needless to say we got into a little brawl. The neighbor lady had already took the kids inside at that point so it was on.. He eventually backed off because it was 2 on 1 (me and my neighbor who I am friends with against him)... After he went inside, we lit off a few LOUD firecrackers to spite him.

I think one of us should apologize at some point because we all have to co-exist on this street. I might have to be the bigger person and go do it, but if I do, it wont be for a few days.

You should call the police on him for assaulting you. He'd look out his window and think oh, someone else called the police, then they walk over to him and arrest him.

I dont need to tattle on someone. Im a big boy, I can handle my own problems.

A taste of his own medicine would be to threaten to call the police and not do it.

People usually call police when they have a problem with their neighbors, and I know this because my neighbors have a really hard time getting along. Judging by Nebulous's description of what the guy across the street did, though, that's the kind of up-close-and-personal I've only seen over a deal involving lots of money going wrong between two of my neighbors. Also, it ended with one guy arrested and the other so fearful that his family and him moved out.

In any case, it should seem odd that he reacted so aggressively considering the mildness of the offense, and his apparent lack of concern over prolonged loud noise when it's his own doing. However, I have seen people do much stupider, and much more dangerous, things with much less provocation. For example, I was at a party when a neighbor, a knife in hand, went to the front yard where the party was being held, and threatened violence if a car parked on the side of the road next to his house wasn't moved. If the situation wasn't somehow diffused, a brawl involving entire families would have broken out, and several people may have ended up in the hospital.

And no, he didn't need the space on the side of the road.

Regards,

Kevin

If a neighbor had asked me to stop then I would have stopped. Does this neighbor have children or pets? I know that fireworks scare my dogs half to death. If you had just stopped then a brawl wouldn't have occured. Like you said you all have to co-exist on your street. The fact that he has friends over and they play semi-loud music is completely irrevilent to this situation. Then like children, you have to go and set off LOUD firecrackers to spite him.

I say an apology is in order but I wouldn't wait days to do it.

Not really. He has no right to bitch at me for making some noise at 9pm when he is making noise until much later on some days. Its alright for him to annoy us but god forbid we annoy him. I don't think so.

The point is he came over and asked you to stop. Have you ever gone over there and asked him to stop? Ever hear the saying two wrongs don't make a right?

Yes I have gone over to ask him to stop but he don't listen and when 10 or 15 drunk people see someone trying to ruin the party, that usually does not end well.

Fom now on, just let the police handle it.

Calling the police on all those people is pretty much a death wish.

Shame you moved and then have to put up with a butt head like this. Seems like there's one in every neighborhood. I'm soooooo happy I live in the woods and have no neighbors for miles.

You should have shot a rocket at his balls, and maybe then he woulda stopped complaining.
