My first attempt at HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography

Nice pic. What is HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography? Looks like the colors / contrast was changed on the pic?

You're on the right track, Nebulous; HDR is basically an enhanced range of luminescence rendering (hence the sunset picture is a good one). It develops better image quality that is truer to life capturing of images reflecting what we see with our eyes (and better, even) when it comes to a range of lighting effects captured on camera, video, or even graphically rendered. It shows the dynamism of lighting (and also reciprocally the lack of lightning (shadowing)) much better than without HDR.
