I have so many over the years.

I created my first on IF back in like 2003 about anime.

I then got into forum admin places and had mod spots on tons of them like Mad Ads and here.

Such great memories.

the first sort of online community I joined was in Google Groups. must be getting near 30 years ago

When I first hit the scene I was part of a free hosted phpBB community (called freeforums.org). Then I joined a few invisionfree boards and made a couple for fun.

The first forum I ever joined was Glitch City, a website dedicated to documenting the numerous glitches found in the Gen 1 Pokemon games. This was back towards the end of 2006, and it used SMF. It sadly closed back in 2020 and a new community was formed on Discord under a different name.

Ahh glorious phpBB. How much fun it was. I really love it mainly because it's free and you can download it from softlicious on a domain with hosting. It's great for that.

phpBB was pretty advanced back in the day as far as forum software goes. Now it feels primitive by today's standards.

I did join some game show forum on Invision, but that site was and still very toxic. In late 2003, I joined Proboards.

Certain gaming forum that ran on vBulletin platform that was outdated even by that time's standards.

Yeah vBull is BULL!
Crazy how they used to be #1 and now they're the worst, even worse than many free softwares.

Really? I've been out of the loop regarding forum software quality for the past several years, so I'm completely clueless on what's even available these days, much less the quality of each.

How happy are you with XenForo?

Truthfully Xenforo really is the industry standard at this point. They are stable and super user friendly.
