Have you ever seen people who devote a bunch of time to a forum..

Then they disappear or say something like Ive lost interest in this forum and stop coming..

Then all of the sudden they are back again full blast..

Then they disappear or say something like Ive lost interest in this forum and stop coming..

After a while they are back being all devoted again..

Then they disappear or say something like Ive lost interest in this forum and stop coming..

..... and so on...

What do you think about flip floppers? (term I made up for them.

I think they are annoying tbh. One of those types is making a forum that's all about teaching you how to better manage your forum. lol

I wish they either quit doing that crap or just stop making forums.

Heh there was a forum I did that on, but I knew most of the people off of the forum so I wasn't leaving, it was mainly because I wanted to concentrate more on real life...you know, that thing that you get when your mum turns off the electricity? It's okay if they're not like HEY LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME. (Scout, Team Fortress 2 much?) I'M LEAVING THE FORUM EVERYONE RUSH TO SAY GOODBYE TO ME. OH HEY I'M BACK EVERYONE WELCOME ME BACK AND TELL ME YOU MISSED ME.

But we had ADMINS doing that, we've never had one that lasted more than a year, it's really annoying for the old members who've stuck around for years, sticking with the forum no matter who it changes hands to. It's not fair. But yeah, other people who do it, what can you do? Ban them for being indecisively annoying assholes who just want attention? Of course.

They drive me nuts actually. I know people like that and I just want to shake them and say PICK A SIDE AND STAY THERE

And then being the nice person you are, you are welcoming and sincere. I try to stay active on a site, if I have put a fair bit of dedication into it. It doesn't always work that way. My first time on FA, I was package, and had to leave due to family health. Second time, I was a reviewer, and left because my own forum boomed, achieving around 400 posts a day. I just couldn't do both. If a person has a decent reason, I don't have a problem. I know things come up, but just cause isn't a good reason; nor is I'm bored..

If you didn't like it the first time, why come back. I was on a sports forum, and hated bandwagoners..

I belong to a site where that is sooooo very common. People post I wish I had never joined here. I'm leaving forever

Guess what--next day, they're back posting away.

It's nutty. Never give an ultimatium that you aren't prepared to follow through on.

If you aren't going to post on a site, just don't post. But if you are--then do. Simple.

I could picture you doing that.

I haven't really run into any. I don't mind it if it's the first time and they actually leave for a week or so, then return. But if they return the next day and say they're going to leave again... pathetic.

Your talking about the administration staff correct? If so then i find them to be very annoying, an they should learn how to become part of a real forum/community before trying to start up their own. Many people think you can open a forum, an have a great success. WRONG! members don't tend to flop right in the day you open it, sometime's it may take month's or years to get committed members to join. Many owner's tend to get bored of their own forum cause they made it something they have no say for, an though HEY people will have something to keep blabbering about this kind of topic & These type's also only build forums so they can have POWERS over others

What I have seen happen on a forum I'm a member of is a few long standing members post a goodbye thread. Then they check their thread every day to see what members have posted. When they get a member that says please come back they do

To me they are just attention seekers and they annoy the heck out of me.

I never respond to a goodbye thread because I know they will be back sooner or later.

It's good to see them again!

I don't mind as long as they aren't staff members since I've seen that happen. They could take their break without saying they are leaving for good though (Or how else it was put) but I've been in that place before, I kind of understand it for the first few times.

After many attempts I know I cannot leave when I say I do.

It is fine to feel that way, but it isn't sensible to announce it in a post. Staff have a greater responsibility to remain dedicated to the community, or to give the position to someone who can remain consistently dedicated. Forum members can certainly disengage for a while if they feel the need, quietly and without fuss.

TBH there's nothing wrong with them, I get it because I'm like that as well. I can get really excited about something and do it all day long, but because you spend all that time on the same thing, you get bored with it earlier. I'm always a few months into forums and then I just leave for some time because it doesn't interest me any more or because I'm busy and tired every day.

The only people I have a problem with are the attention whores who make a long dramatic goodbye topic and never actually leave...

One of my members, Francis has done this a couple of times, however he hasn't been on lately..
