I got a notice in the mail today that really made me sad but also very angry. The notice is for a food drive entitled Stamp Out Hunger. On Saturday letter carriers across the country will be collecting food for families in need. The instructions are to bag non-perishable food items and leave at the mailbox for pickup & delivery to a local food bank. For crap sake, the US is spending 10 million dollars a month to keep troups in other countries while people right here have no food!

It's sad how we (the US) offer aide to other countries and we turn our backs on what's happening right here.

Yeah, a lot of money gets spent on extra-territorial goals while there's so much more to do.

As soon as a special Japan Tsunami Relief Fund was set up, millions of Americans sent money. If these same people saw a homeless person on the street who asked them for a quarter, they would just keep right on walking. Why?

Because there's no connection, you don't know what happened to any random beggar but you do know what happened to those people in Japan because the news told you. Then there's the part were you're living in a wealthy country and might expect people to be able to find some sort of a job
