Forum Shops

Should forums have shops? I like the fact that it rewards users for posts and activity. I can however see how difficult they can be to run. What do you think?

They have purposes, and can be used well, but I rarely use them.

Not really, they are usually a pointless waste of time. Making people work for things that come standard on other forums is more of a hindrance than a help. For example, lets say the shop has "Username changes" or "Edit custom user title" as some of the items and they cost $500 forum cash each. Lets say a member wants to edit both of those things. How much do you need to post in order to earn $1000 in forum cash? They need to make 1000 or 2000 posts? Those members will get frustrated and go somewhere else where they have more freedom. Like here, anyone can change their username or edit their custom user title at any time on the Account Details page and they don't have to work for it.

I'm not a fan of this either. I believe that having these options for free is good so people can choose when and what they want their username to be.
