Hey everyone, I need some ideas. I'm looking to hold our first ever posting contest in about 2 months, but I need ideas as to what forums should be off limits during the contest. I know forum games and Graphics for sure, because those are just for fun. And possibly the amount of feedback to be posted should probably be limited too, wouldn't you think? http://www.marie1988.com if you need ideas.

Turn off post count in forums that you don't want post count to go up and therefore get counted so no one participating is banned from posting anywhere on the board.

Typically the only forum on a board that gets post count removed is forum games as most will just post there and nowhere else which is not going to make the contest not benefit your board.

Okay, so definetly forum games? What about the graphics section?

Well, yeah, but I still think that graphics should be turned off as well. Because just like forum games, graphics are usually just for fun as well. We'll have to see. We're kind of debating about this in the staff lounge on our forum as of now, so I will post back when we decide something.

None, but posting requests and buying stuff with forum credits shouldn't count

We don't have that kind of stuff on the forum anyway, so that doesn't matter.

Hi Ashley, I know I'm a little late as you've already hosted your first posting contest but I would say the game section and possibly even the news/updates threads. Other than that, I would say keep it pretty open. Though when I hosted posting contests in the past I would only have posts/threads that had X amount of words count towards the posting contests, on other forums I've seen people post one or two word replies and that isn't really fair or adding any content in my opinion so I would have it were only those who posted enough words would count. It seemed to work great and everyone had fun.

Locking this thread as this topic is 15 years old and I no longer have a forum, nor do I tend to go back one soon.
