You find a cell phone laying on the sidewalk and there is no one around.

Hold on to it. The owner will probably try to call it, I'll answer and meet him/her somewhere to give it back.

Someone stole my phone out of my car (I left in my car with the windows rolled down, which was stupid).. Anyway it was a high school kid. I called it a few times and each time the girl hung up on me or cursed me out then hung up on me. I called the cell phone company and had them shut it off and then flag it so if someone tried to activate it, they'd confiscate the phone and give it back to me. However nobody ever tried to activate it. The girl probably just threw it away when it would not work anymore.

I would try to find who the owner is. I accidently lost my cell phone on the school bus once. Some kid who I didn't know too well but went to the same school as me, found it and then called me at the house on it (on our house phone, of course!) She brought it back later on that afternoon, as she had cheerleading practice before hand. So I would try to do the same. I've also learned my lesson: Try to keep a close watch on your cell phone and make sure you still have it!

I would hold onto it, and try and find the owner. Failing that I would hand it into the nearest police station

I've lost my phone plenty of times, and some kind people have handed it into lost and found/police.

Unless it's a really expensive phone, I'd probably just walk past it.

That'd be pretty hard to tell if it were expensive or not, wouldn't it? I mean, naturally, if you picked it up and looked at all the features that were on it, or at least some of the features, that'd be one way to tell, I suppose. I'm sure there are some phones that don't have many or any fancy features at all, yet they're still expensive.

He probably means if it's like a Blackberry he'd pick it up but if it was just a standard flip phone he'd leave it there.

I'd probably do the same. lol if it was a Smartphone I'd probably play with it and then call someone in the contacts that would be close to them (like Home or Mom).

Heh, I can tell with most cell phones. For example if it doesn't even have a touch screen, it's probably not going to be that expensive. Or if it's a blackberry or an iPhone, etc.

Try to find the owner. Do undo to others as you would have them undo to you. If I lost my phone, I would appreciate it if someone returned it; therefore, if I found a phone, I'd try to find the owner.

Expensive or not, I'd like someone to pick my phone and try to get it back to me. What if I had some important numbers saved in there or pictures I'd like to save?

I would scroll through the list of contacts and try to call someone who has obvious connections to the person, like mom or dad or home, then I would return it. (Altough depending on what phone it is I might just have a look at it's feaures first)

That was so unnecessary. I never even said that, so please stop twisting my words.

As I said before, it's not that hard with a cell phone. There are a few brands that only have expensive phones, they all have touch screens, the damage would be minimal, if they have a good camera they're usually quite large, etc. Really, if you look at cell phones in a store once a month it isn't hard at all.

I don't know what your problem is with me, but get your facts straight next time before ridiculing me.

My first thought wouldn't be whether or not it's an expensive phone. My first thought would be to try and find the owner. If it happened to me, I would hope someone would do the same thing. I have many contact numbers programmed into my phone so I'm sure it wouldn't take long to find me.
