France has been given the green light to ban short haul domestic flights.

The European Commission has approved the move which will abolish flights between cities that are linked by a train journey of less than 2.5 hours.

The decision was announced on Friday. The changes are part of the country’s 2021 Climate Law. France is also cracking down on the use of private jets for short journeys in a bid to make transport greener and fairer for the population.

Transport minister Clément Beaune said the country could no longer tolerate the super rich using private planes while the public are making cutbacks to deal with the energy crisis and climate change.

Sensible cutbacks, honestly, and I agree with limiting the usage of private jets where possible.

Now they should do this here in America....

Well as long as the flights allowed to take off don't bank left he should be fine with it, right?
With occasional flights into Cuba? Sure, that'll work....

More stupidity thinking from the left without really thinking about the idea they proposed will only increase gas and energy use substantially! So instead of tens of thousands flying on big planes every day to get to there destinations in groups 150 to 200 people they want thousands more on the highways clogging it up probably driving individually filling up gas tanks and powering up their environmentally horrible electric vehicles. This will make restaurants and gas stations happy thought.

As long as a super stupid idea feels good but does squat expect a leftist to do it.

Yes, because in Europe no one travels by train...

Been to Europe several times the roads are crowded and many people hate trains. no energy reduction is happening with stupid ideas like this.
lol.

While inter-European travel has a ways to go, within France train travel is a fairly efficient, frequently used means of transport.

And so is flying, you really believe dragging thousands of tons of metal that by the way covers up more land that the left says they love so much is more efficient? It’s not!

So you'd rather take a short-haul flight from say, Orlando to Miami, instead of driving or maybe taking a train?

And you call our side of the aisle dense?

50 minute flight.

4.5 hour drive, have taken it many times the wife loves it in Miami.

The privately built speed train is about to open from Orlando to Miami. I’m guessing 2 or 3 hours.

As for your question if it’s for business fly or train. If it’s for a weekend getaway I like taking the car for the backroads.
