Do you think it's okay to free animals that have been in captivity all their lives?

Why or why not?

All animals should be free. They are not ours to exploit.

I think some would have enough 'wild instinct' to survive on their own; but some have become so dependent on scheduled, provided feedings and would not have a clue how to fend for themselves therefore be quick, easy prey. Maybe this is one of those questions that does not have a clear-cut "yes" or "no" answer.

Agreed with @passenger, it's a hard one to properly answer. In most cases I would love to say yes, but there are some that will not know how to adapt and survive. In those instances, perhaps a sanctuary is more of an ideal situation than total freedom, that way there is still some semblance of routine for them.

True but the question is asking if animals that have been raised in captivity would better off being set free. The conundrum is those animals don't have the necessary survival skills and will die living on their own / in the wild, so in this situation it would be cruel to set them free and sentence them to an early grave.

Excellent point, Nebulous.
