Free web stats counter

I want to know about free web stats counter for my site & how will I get that. If anyone know about this please help me.

One more thing is traffic analysis I am starting out to promote my own website organically but don't know how to do it.

Google Analytics http://google.com/analytics/ is a good one. It's a hidden counter so you can track your stats without having some little counter image at the bottom of your page.

I gave up using hit counters on either of my sites because they either counted EVERYTHING, such as webcrawling robots and link sniffers, or they would miss people who came in because they saw the proxy as One User even if it was a proxy or gateway that served all of, for example, New York City's public libraries.

So, instead, when I was interested in such things, I pulled the server files off my host. They were real numbers of monthly users from all sources, even though it could not be displayed in real time on the home page, it was what I wanted to know.

Now, after almost twenty years on the web, I don't care.

Thanks for your reply I was also in the search of free hit counter & analytics as you after lot of searching find services providing by GoStats .so what you things about that??. please suggest me
