What are your thoughts?

Fuel shortages worsened in the southeastern United States on Wednesday, as the shutdown of the largest U.S. fuel pipeline network entered its sixth day and gasoline stations ran out of supply in some cities.

A ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline last week halted 2.5 million barrels per day of fuel shipments in the most disruptive cyberattack on U.S. energy infrastructure. The pipeline stretches 5,500 miles (8,850 km) from U.S. Gulf Coast oil refineries to consumers in Mid-Atlantic and Southeast states.

In Washington, D.C., top Biden administration officials met late Tuesday to discuss the incident and were considering ways to alleviate gasoline supply shortages, the White House said. Congressional committee members have asked that a White House interagency task force provide a formal briefing to discuss the federal response to the cyberattack

Gotta get some money back from the people after the covid crisis. Very curious events been going with ships and stuff over the last few months.

There were lines this morning at the gas station in town and they are limiting how many gallons you can purchase.

Nothing to do with that. It was a legitimate hack. They had to shut down the compromised section. There's an article on Cyberreason about the group that did it

The gas in my area seems fine, though I think I did see prices go up. Hopefully things can stabilize quickly.

I think this is a bit suspicious. .. but I always am a little bit paranoid :D

The gas station in town is now closed awaiting an oil delivery.

I noticed at the Casey's Gas Station that some of the pumps were bagged and had "Out of Service" stickers on them. If all the gas stations in town run dry. I imagine I may have to walk to work and I haven't done that since during my divorce.

I think id be tempted to walk to work anyway @Terminated - it is good for you :)

Probably not right now. Otherwise I would. When I was mowing yesterday, the arthritis in my left leg started acting up. However, I agree. Walking is good for everyone. I've been trying to get my girlfriend to take a walk through the neighborhood with me and she really hasn't been in the mood to do it.

Supposedly the company has paid the group $5,000,000 to resolve the issue. Be interesting to see how that changes things. I really think fuel and utilities shouldn't be open to outside influences. They should be closed and only available to be controlled/ran by US companies.

I know governments tend to always mention that we shouldn't pay the hackers but considering how much money was being lost and how many people were being affected, it made sense to end this as soon as possible. I wonder if they will try and find out who it was now to get that money back.

They know who it was. Some hacker group out of Russia.

I haven't noticed a different in my area. But I don't have to buy gas for my car that often since my car gets 40 miles to the gallon (or really close to it).

It's one of those things it is what it is. Some people will flip out over every little thing.

Yeah fuel shortages can be a huge issue as prices rise on gas and fuel. Ransom attack was probably done by gang members I can imagine or the Mob. I'm sure they'll get more fuel lines running and fix this issue. The middle-east seems to be where most of it comes from and pipelines drawn out across the ocean.

Well, time that they start getting fewer Patrol cars off the road and have electricity. We always have big plans in the UK for doing that, and fee for driving gas cars into cities
