Game Meat

Do you eat game meat?
Yes, deer meat (a/k/a venison).

Venison steaks, venison burgers, venison roasts, venison sausages; got a neighbor who catches his tag limit of deer every fall/winter and after butchering his needs, donates/gives away the remainder to neighbors/local charities.

That is a lot you had .... from all those which you like the most
Probably elk; but deer being more plentiful, that would be a very close second choice.

I had a buffalo steak once and it had almost no fat.
Was it tough? Was it tasty?
There are a couple of small-herd buffalo farms around here; and I have seen "Beefalo" burger in the meat counter.....as most everything is, pretty expensive. Have wondered if it really tastes much/any different than beef. I'll bet that it would make good chili, but with all that spice, who could tell what the meat tastes like.

It was good and not that tough, I'm thinking they have a way of cooking it so it isn't tough. If you made chili with buffalo I'm sure you'd need to add more moisture. Again the fat content is lower because of the nature of the animal.

Deer, Elk, Snake, Gator... I love it all. I've also had some not so common stuff like Squirrels and Frogs.

I don't have much experience with it. I don't go hunting and don't really know anyone who does.

We don't get to eat venison very much. Neither of us hunt and my step father doesn't do it as much as he used to.

A lot of deer, but also some bear and some smaller game like duck and wild turkey. I have had bison, but it was farm bison (I believe).

I had Kangaroo , Quail, Rabbit
that is what i remember maybe more
Wow! I'll bet that very few here have had Kangaroo!
So, what was your opinion?

I've never had it!
It is very lean meat that taste close to beef but not exactly beef, also remind me a little of lamb ... not sure how to explain but that is what i think but i had this once long ago. I read some people say taste close to venison but can not compare it because i never had venison .

Hmm what Kangaroo had to do with lamb :p just remind me very very little as a taste but it is very low in fat and lean a reason if not cooked right will be very dry and tough.
I have no problem when meat has fat .. especially on a BBQ i will always get the one with most that's the best part lol but not something to have everyday :D
