Thinking about starting a garden but aren’t sure where to begin? This post, all about gardening for beginners, is for you — with eight simple steps to help you start your garden.

Does this sound familiar? Looking around my yard, I see weeds, overgrown plants, and a few dried-out pots I tried to grow tomatoes in last year. I think to myself…. “How am I going to grow anything here?” “What do I do first?” “How will I know what to plant?” “If I put time and money into a garden, will it be worth it?”

Read through these steps, and don’t be afraid to start a garden. You can do this!

I used to garden in middle school, but if I recall, the only veggies that actually survived my garden in my yard back when I lived in California were the tomatoes. Luckily I love tomatoes. xD

...That reminds me of when I kept stealing my neighbor's kumquats on my way home from school. They said it was okay to be fair, but... I'd walk home, notice a kumquat on the tree, and snatch it as an after-school snack. xD

I grew up with plenty of fresh veggies and other produce, so it's nothing new to me. However, I don't have enough space in my current house.
I did had some peppers, tomatoes, and herbs in pots before, though.

I do landscaping as part of my job so I don't really care to do it as a hobby at home. I keep my yard looking nice but I am not actively trying to grow new things, its more just maintenance to keep the grass cut and the weeds down.
