Do you think forums and other social sites have helped

to bridge the generation gap - at least online ?

Do you find you comunicate easier with those much older

or younger than you when your on a forum or other site,

assuming of course that you know, at least approximately,

how old the other people are. ?

Have you ever encountered unkind remarks regarding

the age of members on a site. ?

In part, certainly.

Not knowing someone's age probably contributes a bit as well.

Age really isn't that important, mental age is more interesting. If you can have a good debate with a 5-year-old about, say metaphysics, there's little reason to take their age into account.

To a certain extent I guess it has. To me forums and social sites have opened an avenue to meet and chat with people all over the world.

Many people online either will not provide their age or they lie about their age. Age to me is just a number. I communicate to all I meet on the same level. Just because they may be younger or older than I am, doesn't mean I can't learn new and interesting things. To effectively communicate to any age group, I just treat them the way I would like to be treated.

Yes and I will leave it at. I will not repeat ignorant remarks.

I personally find it easier to communicate with those

I know to be much younger or older than me on forums etc

though I don't why this is so. Perhaps it's because it's easier

to get into a conversation and find things in common.

I think a lot of the awkwardness and other barriers that are

sometimes exerienced in face to face meetings disappear

when your online.

I find it easier to communicate in general with people over the internet than people in the real world, there's much more time to think of something clever, I don't slip and fall on my ass, or anything like that.

Or if you do, nobody sees it, so it wouldn't matter anyway

But you have to share such matter so we can all have a laugh, Chatsie!

Best thing about online debates right there.
