Article about the power of giving flowers: http://www.aboutflowers.com/flower-gift-giving-tips/power-of-giving-flowers-study.html

:flowers: Have you ever gave a loved one flowers? Has anyone ever gave you flowers? What was the occasion?

Yes I used to buy flowers for my wife all of the time but then I thought to myself...why do I send the one I love something that will die a few days later? Why pay $50 for flowers and they just die! Is this what I am saying about my feelings for this person lol... So I ultimately stopped buying flowers! lol.

I have given and received flowers for numerous occasions. I don't really care for flowers because they are expensive and don't last very long. I'd prefer to receive a plant. Plants, if taken care of properly, can last for years.

When my grandpa passed away, someone at work gave me a plant. It didn't have any flowers on it :P

Do you still have the plant?

My dad never gave my mom flowers. So, one time on her birthday, I bought a huge bouquet of mixed flowers. I put them in a vase and put them on the counter. When she finally saw them, she started crying. At first I thought she didn't like them. Then she said: "This is the first time in my life anyone ever gave me flowers. I love you Nikki." That made me cry. Two blubbering women!

I once gave a dozen roses to my then boyfriend for Valentines Day. He thought it was funny a woman would buy roses for a guy. :( He gave me nothing.
