How far did you have to travel from home to school?

How did you get to school?

How long did it take you to get there?

Different distances depending on where I was living, never too far away. Took the bus in some places, walked in others, had a car in high school and college.

walked to school pretty much every day K-6. 7-graduation, rode bus... that picked us up at end of the block. it was a race after last class of day to get to bus before it left. a missed bus meant walking home. probably not much more than a mile or so.

Lived various places, so, various distances. Don't think I ever rode a schoolbus, but walked and/or rode the city transit bus.

I moved around a lot during the elementary school days so I'll just answer that one on where I lived the longest..

In elementary school I'd walk there, it was right down the street. Got there in like 2 minutes.

Only went to one Jr. High and high school though. Both of those were pretty far away so it was about a 10 or 15 minute bus ride. When I'd miss the bus I'd have to get a ride or I'd be walking for a couple hours probably. My mom HATED giving me a ride and I would get cursed out the whole way to school. Some days I'd just ditch school so I didn't have to deal with her.

That was my dad, too. Didn't want to be late for work, so my sister and I were the world's biggest imposition if we missed the bus.

Mum didn't drive back then?
No, she never drove. She tried a few times to get her license but every time she was about to take her test something would happen that stopped it, the last time she tried it was cancelled because of a visit by the queen...she took that as a sign, lol.

Excuses, excuses! :P

Jk

Yeah, I'm glad she didn't end up getting her license, she told me she had a lead foot, would constantly be flying through towns (and if you know the UK, those are NARROW roads!). She'd have been a terror!

I'll bet.

We have some extremely narrow roads in my city and I refuse to drive down them. I take an alternate route. :P

Narrow roads are terrifying! The thought of someone coming the other direction...eek!
Yeah its so dumb because one of you has to pull over or nobody is getting through. If cars are parked along the sidewalks on those streets then you have to pull into someones driveway so the other person can get by. They need to either make those streets a one-way street or re-do them completely and make them wider.

Exactly!! There are some roads that are just impossible for two vehicles to fit down even when one pulls over, I don't know how they manage it...

Everyone must have drove around hot wheels back in the day.
