Greetings!
Some of you might know that I'm making my own video game! There is an entire world that I have developed for years that I've always wanted to make into a game, however I'm not starting on that game yet. To get use of the settings and scripting in RPG Maker XP, I decided to work on a Pokemon fan game first, but it is becoming a lot more involved than I thought it was going to be.
As I continue to develop the concept of my story, only some of the traditional Pokemon system has been used. *Like obtaining Pokemon, and Gym Leaders although they don't go by that name* It doesn't have any of the Pokemon from the original series, unfortunately! It's an entire different world than the other regions and it's set in the time before many of the technological advancements the series usually has. It is very important to my storyline, as the game starts off with the traditional way of only the special residents having the ability to bond with the native creatures, giving them an honorable partner for life. The people who aren't able to bond with them will get shunned and made fun of for supposedly not being pure and are bad luck to the society. As the game progresses, you'll find a product that was recently developed by the engineers called capsules (Early form of a Poké Ball), that forcefully allow the creatures to bond with the people that own them. You can see how that's a bit problematic, not to mention it will hurt the creatures in order to tame them.
As it's only at the beginning stages, I wondered if any of you can give me advice on my prototype designs.
You know how there are is the main female and male character at the beginning of every game? I currently only have done the female character, but her design will need some fixing up! As a heads up of what I want for her design, the town that she lives in prides themselves of being the Image of the Sun. It's based on the mythology this world has, but the clothing style usually has symbols of the sun on them and is typically colored yellow and orange.

I'm no good when it comes to clothing designs.
Any suggestions?
As for the actual Pokemon, I've already come up with concepts of twenty creatures at the moment, excluding their evolved forms. No idea what I'm going to do with the starter Pokemon though, haha! I'm really stumped to be honest. What do you like to see as a starter Pokemon?
To get the idea of how some of them currently look like, here is my heron inspired dual water/flying type.
Feedback extremely appreciated!
Does the game sound interesting enough to try out? I'll be adding more to this thread when I finish more prototype designs or concepts if any of you are interested.
