What are good habits to start young that will significantly make your adult life easier?

Tidy up daily.

Get eight hours of sleep a night.

Do not lie, always be honest.

Always put other people before yourself.

Try to accomplish everything in life by yourself and avoid relying on other people if possible. That'll ease your transition into adulthood.

Learn how to crawl out of bed, throw some water on your face, show up for work ON TIME and Sober, and ready to do Something Productive for an eight hour shift without checking your phone every two minutes.

And Then:

Saving for retirement.

These things. Essentially, realize how important being responsible and reliable is, and you'll go far in life. Also, be willing to put yourself out there and volunteer for things. Take on work at an early age, even if it's just a part-tine gig or a volunteer position. Now a days, if you have networking and basic mathematical, communication, and team-work skills, employers truly do cherish and look for that.

I'll also second what Nebulous said. Don't be dependent on anyone else but yourself for the important things, but don't be so independent that you don't rely on anyone for anything. Sometimes it's okay to do that depending on the situation.

Also, learn how to be good to everyone you come across as long as it's reasonable. Make it a habit to say thank you, please, smile, and try to do little things that'll brighten someone's day.
