Republican convention delegates approved what some called the party's most conservative platform in modern history on Tuesday, demanding everything from the repeal of ObamaCare to low taxes to constitutional amendments banning same-sex marriage and all abortions.
Presidential candidates rarely embrace everything in their party platform — Romney, for example, supports exceptions allowing abortions in rape cases, incest, or to save the mother — so the documents rarely get much attention.

This year, however, the abortion plank and several other hardline stances on social issues are generating unusual interest, and more Americans are interested in the platform (52 percent) than in Romney's speech (44 percent), according to a Pew Research Center poll.

Will that make the platform a liability for Romney's campaign?

The Republican Party continues to make itself look absurd.

Right now it's probably the most radical viable political party in the western world.

20% cuts to income tax across the board? They cannot be serious... That would be so irresponsible.

It's obvious that these guys only care about deficits when a democrat is president. Under Bush they were happy to take Clinton's surplus and turn it into a massive deficit and massive job loss and crumbling economy when Bush handed it off to Obama.

Republicans have a long history of being hypocrites.

Funny how they seem to forget the past so quickly isn't it?

My question to anybody who claims to be anything, Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, National Socialist, Justified Mongoose, whatever.....

Have you ever read All of the national party platform of your party? All of it, all of that arcane gibberish means something or it wouldn't be there.

Most people who do, and they are all available online, come back with a line like: Well, I'm still a Justified Mongoose, but I don't agree with.....

Then you're not a Mongoose.

Parties are not ideal but inevitable.

I see no reason for the average person who isn't trying to win a political office to affiliate with a particular party.

The only reason I would consider aligning myself with the Democrat party is because almost all of the viable elected officials and candidates that I support happen to come from that party.

I was under the impression most people don't agree with all of a parties platform.

For example I lean towards Liberal views when it comes to social programs but towards Conservative

views when it comes to immigration.

Then why call yourself anything because that label implies you support amnesty for illegals and all the rest of it.

An intelligent individual knows assuming gives the impression of being a fool.
