Discuss.

Is this about Obama saying he supports gay marriage? Because he wouldn't be saying that if he wasn't scared out of his mind about what happened Tuesday.

edit coz rephrase

What are you saying? It's the biggest story of the day and they called it a risky move.

Risky?

Hardly.

Bringing it up now and airing it out means that by October it will be old news and everybody will be sick of it, diluting any repercussions either way and leaving only the hardcore flakes on either extreme that will give a damn either way.

Of more immediate import to the common voter that will decide the election is things like whether or not there is a major terrorist attack against this country, and ahh, what was that other one....

Oh, yeah, that.

What do you mean scared about what happened Tuesday?

Supporting gay marriage is not a fringe position and others in the administration has voiced support for it recently. Obama had be testing the waters before announcing his personal views. He's given up trying to woo social conservatives and is more worried about getting the hardcore support of the LGBT community.

Exactly, which is poor leadership; if you're basing your core beliefs on what's popular, that doesn't sound very sincere, now, does it? May be good politics, but it shows everyone else what you're made of.

No, I strongly believe Obama has held this position personally for a long time.

Supporting gay marriage still isn't popular. Only seven states have it.

North Carolina just passed an amendment to their constitution banning gay marriage and it passed with 62% of the vote.

Despite your attempt to make Obama look bad no matter what, you're wrong.

I, too, believe that Obama has ALWAYS been pro-gay marriage. That shows his hypocrisy. He knew that the majority of Americans did oppose and still oppose gay marriage, and it wasn't until he was backed into a corner that he had to come out swinging and suddenly become a hero for the gay community.

He wasn't backed into a corner...

He's the first president to come out in favor of gay marriage, of course the LGBT community is going to be happy.

It just seems to me that when Obama saw the results of the state elections in Indiana, and especially West Virigina (where a federal convict in Texas is running for president), beating Obama in the polls, he realized he was in big trouble, and thus came out with this sudden evolution of his beliefs in gay marriage.

That's quite a lot of speculation. But hey, if it's what he believes then good for him.

Welcome to the 21st century Obama, where we believe in equal rights.

Mister Obama is, first and last, a Politician.

If poll numbers showed that walking on ones hands was a popular trait with likely voters, guess what video clip would be on the news by the end of the week.

And of course, Mister Romney would be saying that he had been able to do that all along.

And, oh, sorry to disappoint you T, I don't have a pitchfork. Will a post hole digger or snow shovel do?
