Grammar Nazi

Are you a grammar nazi? Do you pick up easily on others grammatical errors? What do you do when someone else notices your grammatical mistakes?

lol....im one of the worst spellers going at times so its not for me to pick on others..............however..........the Admin on a forum i frequent a lot is a lousy speller and it is a running forum gag to take the micky out of him at every oppertunity...thing is he loves it and always gets his own back atr some point ....one of the mods makes some very funny typos when shes a little bit drunk too....soooooo funny to watch

I do pick up on quite lot of grammatical errors, though I know I don't use perfect grammar myself.



The only time I tend to say anything is when someone insists on using text speak, which I hate with a passion.



This is particularly annoying especially in technical computer help threads where I and others need and rely upon a clear description of the problem and so on.



Unfortunately for me, I'm the king of type'O's and often find myself using the edit button to correct some awful typing I have made.

ditto.......although i rarely see it on forums..............mostly on facebook..............the step daughter is terrible for it.............i very often comment 'could you write that in english so we could understand it'

I'll read through other peoples reports/essays they have to hand in, and I'll spot all the errors in there and tell them. Normally they thank me and quickly run away to fix them all up.



I'm not perfect myself, but I try to be.

Sometime's. I have to be in a sane frame of mind to pick up other people's mistakes. I'm not perfect myself so I don't make fun of people. I tend to only correct people when it's for essays and such.

No and I find it rude and annoying when people correct me.

I also get annoyed when members on a forum use Internet Acronyms & Text Message Jargon.

I might notice the errors on forums, but I never ever mention em, as I feel it is likely to make the other person feel bad and/or uncomfortable and that is something that I never want to do to anyone.

Anyway, they really dont bother me, so long as I can understand what is being said it's fine

I try to use English as best I can, and I take classes in an effort to improve it. Also, every post is an opportunity for me to think about what I say, and how I can say it better. In any case, what matters most is that the reader can understand what I say.



As for correcting others, I do not, but I may try to be helpful by pointing out grammar mistakes if it's an essay that someone is sharing, and that he wants feedback on. That's the key, I believe: do not give your grammatical advice unless someone is asking for feedback on his writing.

Only if it's terrible and I have no idea what they are saying. I couldn't care less otherwise.

I remember being part of the forum that would criticize members for grammatical mistakes, and ask them to improve. What was most odd about that, though, is that the mistakes would be of little consequence, as effort was obviously put into the posts being criticized, and remained understandable.



What frustrated me, however, was when a moderator had the audacity to criticize me for not putting enough effort into my posts when I made the earth shattering mistake of submitting a post that was only one sentence. To add to the inanity, I was responding to a topic wherein the person to submit the opening post asked for your thoughts but didn't provide any of his own. That person? The same moderator criticizing me. When I revised my post, furthermore, he complimented me in much the same manner as you would compliment a dog for improved behavior.



Needless to say, my stay there was short.

I see them all and they make me crazy but I don't mention them to the person who made the mistakes. I'm another who can't stand text lingo. To me, it is totally lazy and is exacerbating the already huge problem of people not knowing how to spell and use proper grammar. How will they learn if they continue to use the shortcuts?

Ehh, ever heard of school and education?
