How do you feel about people who are overly concerned with grammar and correct spelling in posts? Are you a grammar nazi? If you see someone who only replies to posts to point out spelling or grammatical errors, do you get annoyed with them?

Overall I don't mind and some really really stupid mistakes or nubz talk must be frowned upon.

I'm a semi-GN myself, when I make a mistake in my post, I usually go back and edit it before anybody has the chance to see that I made a mistake.

I absolutely can't stand people who talk like they haven't passed the 1st grade.

As long as people make a decent attempt to get their grammar correct I don't mind. But if they are doing it because of laziness, then I get frustrated.

I don't mind, not everybody is that great with spelling and grammar. As long as it's understandable then I don't see a problem. What does piss me of though is wen pplz strt typin lyk dis.

my partners daughter writes like that on facebook all the time.........i get great satisfaction in commenting 'will you write in english so we can understand' lol

I get annoyed by people who only reply to posts to point out spelling and grammar errors. Their comments serve no purpose and have nothing to do with the conversation. They should PM a staff member to edit the post or the actual person who made the error instead.

I hate it when people call posters that nit-pick at grammar and spelling Nazi's, Considering what the Nazi party actually did aside from caring about grammar and spelling on the internet. But hey.

/Soapbox.

I've had editors like that.

One ended up drinking and 'smoking' more than was good for him while he was on the newspaper.

Another on another paper changed careers and became a preacher.

Another is still on 'happy pills'.

One resigned her post at the publisher.

So I am the last one to make any statement about grammar and usage.

PS. My record for run on sentences is well over one typed page, over 250 words. You may judge from there.

Yeah, but in the end that won't matter either. They and Their have basically turned into the same word here

I'm a grammar nazi. My own isn't perfect, but as a writer I'm constantly fixing mistakes I make, even if they're small and negligible. When people make posts that are full of mistakes (especially using your in place of you're, or there/their instead of they're) REALLY bugs me. It's not hard to learn to do it correctly, and if you're old enough to be on a messageboard, obviously you're old enough to comprehend basic grammar and spelling.
