Growing up with dogs

It sure is!

I grew up with dogs.

I love dogs!

But I find they don't last very long.

Especially the big ones, the ones I really like.

I get super attached and when they pass, it is like losing a family member.

So, because of that, I don't own dogs anymore.

I do have and love my cats. Those guys will probably outlive me lol.

Yeah, they're family and it hurts when they pass. Cats are hard to lose, as well. Family is family.

I have a treadmill. You think a dog would want to walk on it?

I have tried & tried to get our dog to walk with me on the treadmill, she is okay standing on the treadmill but when I turn it on she is afraid of it.

Yeah, it takes a lot of repeated training to get it to happen, but most dogs are capable and happy to do so after a while

PGen is probably right, most dogs would enjoy it. This dog was about two when we got her and already had some pre-conditioned fears.
She backs off when she hears my electric toothbrush; my guess is that it triggers the sound of vet clippers? She had a serious ordeal with her leg not long before we got her. She's also afraid of the vacuum cleaner; is very wary of moving vehicles.
If/when you decide to look for a dog: see if there are any good prospects at the pound, take it home on a trial basis & test-run it on your treadmill.
