Guests

I let my guests to view the whole forum apart from the vip section i hate going to a forum and not be able to see whats what i tend to just move away from that site and go some where eles. So the way i look at it is if i will do that then i am sure there are loads of people out there that would do the same..

Guests should be able to view public forums but not post. It allows them to become familiar with a forum community. Forum posting, and member-only forums, should be available only on registration.

I just came from a site that I wanted to see if it was worth joining. As a guest I was stopped cold from even looking at the forum topics

Needless to say, I was

of there.

Some forums will only let you view a particular number of threads before locking you out and prompting a registration to continue.

Well then some forums don't want any members then or just want lots of people to join even if they really have or would not have had any interest in joining if they could see what they wanted to see as a guest. I don't get what the fascination is with having lots of members who don't post. Wouldn't you just want people to join if they want to participate in the community and not to just see what there is to offer at a board?

Another obvious one. You must let your guests view the content of your site. I mean, yeah on my gfx forums, I have two sections where you can't see any posts, but other than that everything is viewable.
